You're just trying to be a troll, words of wisdom. If you don't have anything constructive to add to my topic, then I ask you not to post in it.

If the only responses you want in your topic are from people who agree with you then go write a note to yourself and stare at it for a few hours.

The games worthy of getting hyped on the Wii are such. If you don't see a lot of games getting hyped even on internet message boards then that fact alone should be telling.

They dont look hot.
And gameplay doesnt generate hype since not game not annouced can "prove" its gameplay .

Polite disagreement is different from what you've contributed to this thread, which basically amounts to, "hurr I know nothing about these games but they'll all suck anyway."

The whole point of hype is to be excited about something without knowing much about it. And you seem to be insinuating that if it isn't a major-franchise title or a graphical showpiece conducive to impressive-looking screenshots, then it isn't worthy of hype. And if that's the case, then no wonder not many people are hyped about the Wii's third-party releases; they're too busy buying into the hype for FPS or RPG # 753281.

Also, as per Mushroom Men: It's being developed by Red Fly Studios, the members of which had their part in developing impressive games like Anachronox, Deus Ex, and SSX 3. They're also the studio developing the Ghostbusters Wii game, for which the Wii is the primary SKU. It's also being published by Gathering of Developers/GODGames veterans Gamecock Media, who seem to have an exceptional eye for indie talent.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Why do so many people talk smack about wii's third party line up and then ignore a lot of this gold? Nice list Garcian, just shows there's a lot of grade A stuff out there. And the best part is all the Wii Ware which as you mentioned, even comes in it's own list of great stuff.

Why is it that other people brag about games like Mushroom Men and King Story?

Most people either attempt to hype every 3rd party effort on the Wii (even what may be crap) or none of it. I don't really see much in between.

Mushroom Men looks like it's going to be neat with the way you can create weapons and buildings with normal albeit giant everyday items.  Just sounds like a real neat premise if pulled off.

For King's story.  Because it's a square game.  People love to talk up Square games even though they've lost their powers as transcedent RPG makers for 2 generations now.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed it. Every response Words made was basically "Because they SUCK!"

Lack of hype? Has anyone counted the amount of SSBB threads on Vgchartz?!
That's what I call hype.
I am surprised at the low level of hype for Mario Kart though, that'll be the best Nintendo game this gen unless a super fantastic Zelda arrives!
As far as media goes; it seems to me that the media outlets and many major gaming sites have grown a bit stale and aren't hyped about anything lately.

I'm glad you've taken the liberty of assuming what I know and that you've done so very well at it.  I never read online message boards about games or read articles about them or even look at previews and trailers.    Heck if I did all those things, I might actually know what I'm talking about.  Oh wait, I do.

I've not mentioned graphics and you can only infer the major franchises bit from a very narrow reading of one of my above posts.  Still, the fact that you seem to believe I'm talking about graphics means that you don't have the slightest idea of what you're talking about.

Oh, and hype doesn't mean excitement without much knowledge... it just means excitement.  Or would you like to argue that no one is hyped about Brawl?

Most of these games like Monster Lab, Deadly Creatures and others just don't sound like anything more than niche titles. I've never understood why people get so excited about these fringe titles comming to the Wii.

Desperation. Wii fans are starved for quality 3rd party support that doesn't come in the form of PS2 ports or one-off games like Zack and Wiki.

Erm, or maybe I love niche titles?

Nahhhhhhhh... I'm just a lame little Wii flunkie trying to drum up support for the sold-out platform that I can't afford to buy all the games I want for. You have me pegged, Words.

I just find it funny that the official Nintendo-hater line has changed from, "Wii has no third party games!" to, "Wii has third-party games, but they all SUCK!" When what we're really seein is exactly what Nintendo fans predicted all along: a slew of third-party support based around experimental and innovative concepts, while the traditional genres (FPSs, cutscene-heavy RPGs, and so on) go to the HD consoles.

If even 25% of the games that I listed before turn out to be good (and that's not even a complete list), the Wii will still have better third-party exclusives than either of the HD consoles.

@ Words of Wisdom: Then what the heck are you saying, bro? Because nobody else in this thread seems to have a clue, other than what we can infer.

I like Niche titles. I like Niche titles way more then Any first party games or huge megablockbusters

I've been playing videogames since before i've had consious memories.

Anyhing that brings a change or looks different it great for me... since i've seen it all. I remember playing this RPG a while back on a friends computer, and the best part about it was the Hero doesn't get the girl.

It's the first time i've ever seen it in a game before. They build up the relationship like every other RPG, to the point of where it's a gurantee they're going to be with other.... then BAM she falls for someone else, and since aside from her and a few of your friends who also really have no connections to your side your on, you are suddenly fighting more out of duty, and just that you agreed to, and feel you have to see it out, cause your too pissed off at her.

It's great.  Not a new gameplay design, but they took a risk in story for once rather then "Everyones always happy" of course that's the kind of thing you can't really promote.
