Well, MS shareholders wanted to axe Xbox because they weren't impressed with 360 success, so I just wonder what they think of the Xbone....

Actually Vgchartz changed it to 2014 because MS official quarterly results kept showing evidence that it was still higher. Actually Sony never claimed it, but rather 3rd party sources did.
Again, thats old wounds now. PS4 is #1. Rejoice.

China is a wild card that will likely not amount to much. Hell we will be lucky to eventually take NA. Polocies we didn't like are gone, we now have free games for Gold, we are getting more indie games, Kinect is an option, and we have a surprising amount of AAA variety that isn't available on our competition. And now Xbox Entertainment is closed, something I personally never cared for (aside from the Halo projects) since they had zero benefit to the gamer. What the issue is, is that PS fans believe that X1's recent sales boosts and changes will skyrocket it to 1st place....at least they think that we believe that. We do not. We haven't even taken 2nd yet, geez ;). Selling better /= 1st place. I get it. Some people here felt the last place sting in the 7th gen and want to secure their position once again. You have it. You can brag and gloat, as is tradition in the console war, but at least be educated enough that we realize we aren't going to overtake you guys this gen. X1 being a comfortable 2nd, being successful enough to continue a sustainable business is what we want. So yes, the $399 SKU, tier 2 counties launch, Halo MCC, and Sunset Overdrive will "save" Xbox One.....from its 2013 self, not for what PS fans seem to think. |
Bro, what forum have you been reading? Did you see that "XBone sales doubled" thread? PS fans were saying the price cut didn't do anything (comparing to April as opposed to May since that was a price cut hold off month). I've said that Titanfall didn't do anything because on a weekly average, March NPD was lower than February (March was 5 weeks, February was 4). And apparently Xbox fans "don't want to rent. they want to own" so XBone GwG can't be seen as a boost.
Is this a stealth troll? (If I get banned for that, I will come back more powerful than you can ever imagine). I have seen exactly 0 PS fans say that XBone's "recent boosts" will help it take 1st place (or at least, PS fans saying Xbox fans believe this)....because there haven't been any real boosts. So how can you even make that generalization? Even in the NPD thread, before June NPD was released, every PS fan was saying "VGC overtracks X1, undertracks PS4, so with VGC having PS4 ahead for June already, the gap is going to be even greater". How does that translate to: "PS fans think X1 will take 1st"?
edit: Only thing I've seen is that "Xbone will take NA" thread from TheDrill that keeps getting bumped. But that's for shits and giggles because of how epically wrong it is

360 #3 now, in 2014 after gen 8 launched. Which i said previously.When gen 7 was the most current and relevant, I enjoyed a steady 2nd. I'm cool. You apparantly, are taking me back to debates I had 4 years ago lol. Move on......your #1 now. Geez.

With all the advantages removed it always felt like Sony had the edge, but the debacle of 2013 E3 pretty much conceded the first year to the PS4. X1 can recover, but to answer your question, no, I do not see a route for Xbox to get to first place this generation.
I stated Sony's goal should be 1:1 in NA, 2:1 in EU and 10:1 in JP. Taking away NA as Sony have done leaves Microsoft nowhere to make up ground. Europe looks to be even more decisive this time around, and while Japan may be closer than 10:1, the market looks to shrink so even if it ends up 8:1 still not many consoles sold.
The major difference for Sony and Microsoft is Sony needs PlayStation, now more than ever, to remain viable. Microsoft looks at Xbox same way you may view paltry interest payments on your bank account, nice but nothing to really be concerned about.
I just do not see Microsoft willing to lose money heavily this generation to subsidize and create a playing field where they could be first. They seem perfectly content to turn a profit and finish second.
