I've only bought DLC for a couple of games.

FYI, Big Bang killed Maple Story. Made it into a kiddy dress up game that's way too easy to level. Made my old rare items like toys that didn't matter. |
I could go into an essay on Big Bang, but to keep our convo slightly on topic, Big Bang did not kill Maple. It actually brought back a lot of people that had quit due to stagnation, myself included.
Cubes killed MS, because that's when Nexon when full-on, no holds barred pay-to-win. That's when everyone completely gave up on class-specific clothes and hats and went full on work gloves, bath robes and snow boots. That's when simply scrolling an item wasn't good enough anymore; you had to be ready to drop hundreds of real-life dollars to craft the ultimate equipment. Getting lucky in the game alone doesn't cut it anymore.
I have a friend who always hounds me to buy all the DLC so we can play a game together a couple times and all I can do is shake my head. He spends $100+ on each game while I limit myself to a $5 maximum. DLC, pay-to-win and early access all blow my mind.
yes and no. I've bought DLC that would qualify as an expansion but I don't buy anything in free to play games, and I usually look at such games with a healthy dose of skepticism.
