No, I said that their figure includes digital sales which would account for part of the 2.36 million discrepancy. How did you miss that?

Additionally, I also stated that the game could indeed by under tracked which again, would partially account for the diffference. No offense but how did you misinterpret my comments so badly?

can we really count if it's in a collection?  How do we know the people bought if for that game?  Do we add numbers to Sonic sales for all the Genesis collections over the years?

If we start using that argument then we start questioning the sales of basically every bundled game ever. Do we know that they bought the bundle for that specific game or did they just buy it because it was the best deal?

We have to be fair here and include those sales as well.

I am fair in that I'm consistent.  I never include the sales of a game that's bundled with every platform.  If a system is readily available without a game bundled with it and people buy the bundle then of course they bought it for that game.  My point about Sonic, GoW (both times), SotC, ICO and many others stands that people never seem to count it towards their sales.  Maybe give each game 1/4 of a sale in a 4 game collection and for GoW Saga each game gets 1/5 of the sales lol

No, they buy it because it's cheaper to buy the system with a game included than to buy the system and this game or any other new game. That's how it works.

As usual people  on a gaming forum extrapolate their behavior to potential buyers who count at around 200 million people.

I know how my parents bought me systems when I was young, I remember how I bought systems when I earned my own money and I know lot of people who buy because of ads in magazines/weekly ads which almost always have very attractive bundles to offer - be it official bundles or they build their own to give heavy discounts.

Surely, but no "gotcha". I don't expect the majority to buy with the same knowledge like we do, simple as that. This applies to anything what people buy, not only video games. Get product X for price Y or product X+something for price Y+(1/10th of Y) and people will buy this more likely than product X for Y.
