My God there's a lot of young kids here that weren't around for the 3rd gen!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who notices. When I read comments like this...

I don't remember anything pre-PlayStation... |
Seriously? Good God, that makes me feel old!
Let's see, order of the generations...
4th - My precious Mega Drive (Genesis). Yes, I admit it: I'm a Sega fanboy. The combination of nostalgia and genuinely brilliant games makes this my all-time favourite console, and by extension, my favourite generation.
5th - So many great games on the original Playstation and N64. It was on the Playstation that my love of survival horror was born. And the N64 still has my two favourite FPS's: Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.
6th - This is where I started to fall away from gaming a little. I still had some fantastic times during this era - in fact, this gen contains some of my favourite games - but my experiences were definitely becoming more spread out.
7th - I was largely absent from this gen, though I still enjoyed the occasional game here and there. This was also the gen that really pushed online play, and while I have nothing against multiplayer, it's never been my preferred style. And frankly, even if it were, it wouldn't matter because on the occasions that I've tried to do a little multiplayer... well, let's just say that my internet connection and I have a difference of opinion.
2nd - Yes, I'm really that old. The Atari 2600 was my first system, and while I have many fond memories of it, I have to put it fairly low on the list because, as cool as it was back in the day, the poor old thing simply can't compare to the greatness that was to come in the latter parts of the 2D era.
3rd - The reason I'm putting this here is because, honestly, I have no direct experience with it. I basically skipped this generation altogether, playing my Atari well into the late 80s, and going from the 2600 directly to the Mega Drive. So, yeah. I don't dislike the 3rd gen; but since I'm basically ignorant of it, I have to put it fairly low on my list of preferences.
8th - Obviously, the most recent gen hasn't had a lot of time to really show us what it's got yet. So, as it stands right now, it's at the bottom for me. We have, of course, seen a little bit, but not much that would push it higher on my list, to be honest. If anything, it so far looks to be even more multiplayer-focused than last gen. Which is great if you love multiplayer. Not so much if you're me.
1st (Honourable mention) - No, I didn't own a Magnavox. I'm not that bloody old!
