I'm sure it will pick up massively once it gets some Japan centric games. The western release had loads of Western games so the success is no surprise.

As far as I know, there is nothing major until way into 2015

To add to that, in a market(Japan) that favors quality gameplay over graphic fidelity(just look at the handheld market), why do they really need a PS4 that essentially only gives them upgraded graphics?

This sounds so odd and definitely doesn't hold as an absolute truth. Handhelds are popular because of commuter culture and the low cost associated, not because of any gameplay over graphics rubbish.

I agree that it is not an absolute, but neither is your explanation.  In almost every large city in Europe or the US, there is a huge commuter market.  In all markets, the cost is King, so that answer means nothing too.  It will always be a combination of many things.

Well the Japanese audience seem to favor visuals way way more than action packed gameplay. Remember they are the ones who popularized the turn-based battle style. if that was the case, the Xboxbrand would be extremely susscessful in Japan.

Apparently, they are unwilling to pay for it(visuals) then...

Well, thaat has more to do with the fact that there aren't any real Japanocentric games right now for the PS4. when Bloodborne and Deep Down come out in Japan, you can expect to see a rise in sales.

That certainly isn't helping.

It is near the end of the end....

Just wait for more games that actually appeal to them to release.

Let's also be honest. The Japanese market is a joke. X1 has beaten wiiu in sales for most of the weeks it's been out and it's not even in japan yet. Ps4 is selling like crap in japan and still is neck and neck with a handheld. You don't need the Japanese market to be successful

Sadly I don't even think games will help, the crowd is simply stearing away from home consoles in Japan. Question is if the Playstation platform might grow though, through the likes of PS Now. I believe it will.

Sadly the best Japanese games are coming on handhelds and only in Japan.

Err... Don't know if you heard of this company called Nintedo, really small company, well they have this console called the Wii U, well the Wii U is a home console. Not sure if you knew that.

That doesn't change the fact that the best Japanese games are on handhelds.

thats what happens when theres no games. Will change rapidly IF Square Enix get there shizz together KH3 and FF 15 should be huge

The Wii U isn't a example of good sales in any region. It has software that has sold well, but the hardware has done poorly everywhere.

Biggest seller in japan for ps3 were FFXIII and RE5, and i hardly see capcom and SE go full mobile, so ps4 should do fine ... starting 2015
