LeBron James Chooses the Cleveland Cavaliers
Following the completion of a crazy free agency, LeBron James has finally made his decision. After finishing a meeting with Pat Riley and taking a couple days to think and talk to family, James came to his decision. LeBron James chose to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers after 4 years with the Miami Heat.
He did so via SI through this link, we are proud to be affiliated with SI everyday, especially today.
The Cavs have a young up and coming roster that appealed to James in his quest for long term success. The Heat provided him a chance to possibly compete for another ring next year but after that the health of Dwayne Wade and the lack of young assets made the future sketchy. The Cavaliers on the other hand provide a different long term outcome.
While the team full of youngsters Kyrie Irving, Andrew Wiggins, Dion Waiters, Tristan Thompson and Anthony Bennett might struggle with new expectations and all of their first trips to the playoffs, they are the long term best place for James. With James in the fold for a few years and Irving and Wiggins locked up for another 5 or 6 years together the Cavs are now fully ready to recruit a number of free agents. The Cavs have already been linked to Ray Allen, Mike Miller and James Jones. They also still have trade assets, after the Jarrett Jack, Tyler Zeller, Sergey Karasev and 2016 First Round Pick deal, to strike a deal for a solid veteran.
We have covered a few different big men option, check out the last one here, including Kevin Love, Chris Bosh, Al Horford and Roy Hibbert. Ryan Anderson is another stretch 4 that could also help the Cavs. Adding a couple of shooters as well as a big man would help complete the lineup and bench around James, Irving and Wiggins.
For the Heat they have a few choices to make. Piece it together for a few years or blow it up. If their pick is out of the Top 10 this year they owe it to the Cavs. Dwayne Wade is aging but is the face of the Heat. While Chris Bosh could decide to go to Houston to compete. Carmelo Anthony is the lone big name that could come close to replicating James’ production in Miami, while Luol Deng and Pau Gasol, amongst others, could help the team stay afloat in the weak East.
Either way a huge day for both teams.
