I don't know, but most of my consoles are backward compatible ( ps1, ps2, ps3, wii, wii u, ds, etc.. )

PS1 is backwards compatible with what?

With neogeo games.

" Quite a few systems missing from this list. "

Yes, but most of the precedent gen were backwards compatibles.

Holding my PS1 right now, can't find where Neo Geo cartridges go in, cause you know, PS1 didn't use cartridges. If you could provide a link verifiying your claim well that would lend you greater cresendence but I'm not one to take words at face value.

So, we`ll get a remaster of Drive Club and The Order: 1886 when they are familiar enough with the PS4 to have them in 60fps?

I dont care. Ill get The Order: 1886 and have a blast. 60fps or not...

Remember when we got a TLoU remaster for the PS3 running at 60 fps?  Me either.  That's because it is running on a next gen system.

I don't understand why you are trying to make it look like a bad thing.

Because it is a bad thing. If we keep buying them, then more and more of them will be made...

Like DLCs finally made their way...

You serious ?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with them and it's a win-win all around. Everyone who complains does obviously not have enough other first world problems to care about.

PS1 backwards compatible?  Not bad eh.

-The Atari 7800 is backward compatible with almost all Atari 2600 games.  Atari 5200 and Sega Genesis have cartridge adapters to provide compatibility with Atari 2600 (Atari CX-55 Cartridge Adapter) and Sega Master System (Power Base Converter) games respectively.

-Most Wii Systems, Wii U.

-Most Nintendo hand helds

-PS2, some PS3s

-Xbox 360 with some Xbox games.

Quite a few systems missing from this list.

BC is outdated in consoles, I only expect it to make a resurgence in next gen and I mean 9th gen, because the architecture they use are no longer propietary or exotic. Unlike previous gens, the architecture is now PC architecture which is probably the most scaleable so far, and has a large dev focus.

Indubitably

And while we're here:

No, there is a limit to the viability of remaking a game.  And it certainly isn't bad at the extent to which it is viable.

Let's imagine a different scenario.

[This way companies create new content, spending lots of money and they are risking bankruptcy.  Consider if a company spends $100 million and only brings $20 million back.  That type of attitude will make companies go bankrupt and millions of people will lose their job.  They should stick to making remakes of old games.]

The reality is that there is room enough for both, and remakes are not going to be overused because they aren't viable enough to be overused.

What? Thats not the same at all.

They're both silly, because they don't work.

So youre saying that buying new games is just as bad as buying 1 year old remasters...?

ND wouldn't be able to make a AAA game in the between development periods. Its literally a matter of Remaster vs Nothing, to suggest that a Remaster is somehow preventing a new game is mistaken.

Not at all.

I'm saying you can make an argument for almost anything and it'll make sense if you look at it in certain ways.

Try taking a look at the pros for making a remaster and weigh it against the cons.  And look at each pro and con and really consider how much those cons and pros make sense.  They might look like they make sense, but then under closer observation you realize they don't.  The market can not get flooded with remasters.  No one is going to want to rebuy their entire collection.  A few titles that they missed is definitely a selling point and is definitely something that works.  On top of that, how many companies are going  to be wanting to remake content?

I could argue that remasters actually make new games more viable and more possible.  Because look at the pros for TLoU remaster.

-Easy experience with PS4 hard ware that would be useful for a new game.  (Uncharted 4)

-Inexpensive

-Brings in money for ND.  -> this means that there is more money that they can put towards new games.

-It sells to more people, so this means that there is more people aware of the brand, so making TLoU 2 is more viable.  It also makes Naughty Dog games as a whole more viable.  It gives ND more fans and they can make new IPs that will sell better than before.

Sure you can make and argument for everything, but with new games, the positive outweights the negative.
