Damn. Why did i buy a PS4? If i knew I could just insert ps4 discs on my ps3 and play them...

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-sony-creates-custom-ps3-for-playstation-now

edicated servers house eight PS3s, built from the ground up for cloud gameplay.

If Sony ever wants to add ps4 games to PS now they'll have to completely revamp their entire PS now infrastructure. Which could happen...after the PS4 generation is over.

And PS now is brought up, as expected. Nevermind the fact it's only PS3 games. Or that you can still buy a physical copy of those same games if you want to, thus making it entirely optional. Or that you don't need to buy a console to play the games.

And PSPlus was never supposed to be required to play multiplayer, yet here we are :).

Of course they will start to launch PS4 games on PS Now in the coming years. In a couple of years, they will probably even try too launch a AA or AAA title without releasing it to retail. It is the smart business descision to make and Sony will definitely make it.

Where did you buy your crystal ball? Or are you just smearing without any facts?

Thanks jlmurph!

Shocking! Its the 21st century. Get over it.

My ISP was having internet difficulty due to a thunderstorm yesterday. I just played my PS4 offline in the meantime.

It has nothing to do with what century it is. I would like to game without depending on Microsoft's servers.

i can accept that online multiplayer requires an internet connection,.. there is an obvious reason for the need for an online connection and an obvious benefit in certain types of gameplay.

if ms wants to do cloud processing they better be able to communicate a clear reason and obvious benefit.

and lol and those trying to link psnow steaming as an additional method to purchasing games to the idea of cloud processing being integrated into a game's single player mode making an internet connection the only option. if you can see such a massively, significant difference between the destiny dlc vs the dozens of other platform exclusive content coming in the next year surely you can see the difference here...

I thought that the fully destructible environments of Crackdown (3) seemed to be a big benefit.

Did I say this generation?

Then why should i care? It's not gonna happen with the PS4 and that's what matters. If they want to make PS4 cloud when the PS5 is out, i'm fine with that because it'll be the same as current PS Now; optional and only for older games. If PS5 itself has a similar DRM solution, then i'll "oppose" it the same way I oppose what MS wants to do.

Well I'm glad Sony doesn't require always on for PS Now for their Cloud solution. Ohhh wait... You need to be always online to read the Cloud. Silly me, but it's ok if Sony does it. Boooo M$ always online Cloud.

Only diference is that sony requires it only for ps now. You can still buy any game fisicaly and have to bother. But MS is planing on doing it for everithing, even if the  game does not require an online feture wich makes your statement baseless.

It's still happening on PS4 in some shape or form. When you drop just a tiny bit of colored paint in white paint, it's not completely white anymore, regardless of how little it is.

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

So you mean to tell me that you don't know the difference between streaming a game over the internet like you would with movies on netflix and buying a game from a store but being unable to play it unless you were connected to the internet?

If that is really the case then well..... I'm sorry I guess.

To OP: I never thought that would have been the last we would hear about internet restricted DRM from MS. I feel its still what they are ultimately trying to do, just too much money in doing it for them to be able to ignore it. They just went about it the wrong ay last year and now I think they will take it a lot slower.

What I believe they want to do with all this cloud talk is to find a way to split the actual running code of games in such a way that some of that game cwould need/benefit from running off their servers. If they can successfully do this and have games incorporate whatever it is they do, then they would get gamers to need the cloud service. Kinda like how gamers are now paying for online multiplayer. I hope they don't succeed though, cause if they do then it will mean sony will be following too.

a lot of games feature destructible environements (even last gen games).   i'll wait to see some gameplay before i judge wether or not crackdown's destruction is only possible via cloud processing.   as of now i'm not buying it.   and really, it has to affect more than the cosmetics if you want gamers not to complain,.. it has to change the gameplay to be considered a clear and obvious benefit.

Just look at the Build demo they did that was a prototype for Crackdown. The kind of "non-canned" destruction and physics calculations aren't possible on just the local machine.
