Oh good. They can call it "Beyond: Two Souls: The Slightly Less Shitty Version".
Seriously. Not a very good game.....
Consequently, now they'll have re-released both Ellen Page games.

With a remaster, you're still having the team updating certain portions of the game and optimising it for the new generation. You make it sound like it's just a direct port, which it's not. It still requires manpower and time, even if it may be just a fraction of developing a game outright. And look, I respect that you're an indie developer, but your posts come along as a little on the smug side. Just because most of us don't design games doesn't make us ignorant. |
Don't misunderstand me, I say Demos are harder because most of the time, they require the development of the game to have progressed to a substantial degree. Depending on the difficultly of the remaster it could be just as difficult, but most of the time they are working with old assets as guidelines at the very least. I.E, you don't sit down and make a Demo, you make a Demo from a game already in productions, and unlike those Remastering, you don't have anything like a roadmap.
E.G for example, with TLOU:RE, ND knows exactly what they are going to do and what they need to accomplish, with the only real new thing being PS4 OS versus PS3 OS, and more power to pacify that.
On the contary, MSG: GZ has been in dev at least since the development of the fox engine which preceeds the PS4 and XB1 for a while, while the Demo might have been produced quickly, the assets were still created over that long period of time.
But their are many exceptions, hence "arguably"
And I apologize if I might come off as elitist or smug, I don't like holding credentials over people, and I only call it a common opinion because I have seen it has one of the primary and most frequent opinion on why people hate remaster when it simply isn't the case. At worst, A remaster could be considered a cash grab, but its not like they are forcing consumers to buy it. Its not even like the TR:DE fiasco, and even that I didn't have a problem with. Its ludicrous to complain about an option like this, and as I've shown with the Driveclub PS+ Gate, I can get up in arms about bad options.
I'm definetly not arguing, I'm just trying to educate (for lack of a better term)
but more on topic: Its pretty much always, Remaster Vs. Nothing, and by Nothing I mean a team literally being idle more or less. It wouldn't speed up the development of a new game substatially.

It's all good, talking with you is very enlightening actually, you make tons of great points.
When you said demo I assumed you ment the ordinary free demos that tend to be ten minutes long, I didn't realize you were reffering to GZ, and for that I apologize.

The Last of Us was the only exception, that Sony wouldn't take advantage of the situation! Welp... Excuses round two, here we go although I am sure its going to be the same ones anyway! Let the quick cash grabbing tactics continue but hey, least its only a rumor for now... |
Who said this? And why would anyone try to find excuses for it? PS3/4 ports are awesome and there can never be enough.

They annoucned only one port TLoU (others are still rumours) and many new games so far, but you are seeing only ports which is strange.
So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.
PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.
Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.
Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

Well its not only Sony though.

Did the rumours said sony First party studios(except the TLoU) is remastering all the games instead of making new games? Also how many games sony announced to remaster so far? And all these games are released rumoured for port are from last year which is close to PS4 launch, so sony might have had plans to port these games to PS4 when they were developing. They may be using very small team or outsourced for these projects. And i dont see may many people saying waste of resources other than hate words.

I think the main issue is these devs are being pulled away from future games to work on these remasters. I doubt the whole Last of Us team is being pulled in for the remaster but I'm sure some are.

I see blame to PS4 and Sony mostly even though they did announce one game so far for remaster.
