Oh I know that remasters aren't nearly as time-consuming as new games, but I think you give a big disservice to the devs when you say demos are easier to develop. With a remaster, you're still having the team updating certain portions of the game and optimising it for the new generation. You make it sound like it's just a direct port, which it's not. It still requires manpower and time, even if it may be just a fraction of developing a game outright.

And look, I respect that you're an indie developer, but your posts come along as a little on the smug side. Just because most of us don't design games doesn't make us ignorant.

Don't misunderstand me, I say Demos are harder because most of the time, they require the development of the game to have progressed to a substantial degree. Depending on the difficultly of the remaster it could be just as difficult, but most of the time they are working with old assets as guidelines at the very least. I.E, you don't sit down and make a Demo, you make a Demo from a game already in productions, and unlike those Remastering, you don't have anything like a roadmap.

E.G for example, with TLOU:RE, ND knows exactly what they are going to do and what they need to accomplish, with the only real new thing being PS4 OS versus PS3 OS, and more power to pacify that.

On the contary, MSG: GZ has been in dev at least since the development of the fox engine which preceeds the PS4 and XB1 for a while, while the Demo might have been produced quickly, the assets were still created over that long period of time.

But their are many exceptions, hence "arguably"

And I apologize if I might come off as elitist or smug, I don't like holding credentials over people, and I only call it a common opinion because I have seen it has one of the primary and most frequent opinion on why people hate remaster when it simply isn't the case. At worst, A remaster could be considered a cash grab, but its not like they are forcing consumers to buy it. Its not even like the TR:DE fiasco, and even that I didn't have a problem with. Its ludicrous to complain about an option like this, and as I've shown with the Driveclub PS+ Gate, I can get up in arms about bad options.

I'm definetly not arguing, I'm just trying to educate (for lack of a better term)

but more on topic: Its pretty much always, Remaster Vs. Nothing, and by Nothing I mean a team literally being idle more or less. It wouldn't speed up the development of a new game substatially.
