Forums - Sony - Impressive Looking Screens From Everybodys Gone To The Rapture Shows Power Of CryEngine On PS4

I feel like you gave up halfway through the list, because some of the games have a really unique concept which would only work in FP (mirror's edge, kingdom come, no man's sky, the witness), and games where FP would enhance atmosphere/horror elements (metro, daylight, alien). there are so many perspectives available.

I can understand it when there are games that put a spin on the FP element, but most of those games on that list would actually be a lot better if they were made to be third party. I don't know, maybe I am reading too much into it all.. but in the time of the PS1/PS2... my game list was more like this;

  • vagrant story
  • soul reaver
  • tenchu
  • syphon filter
  • brave fencer musachi
  • splinter cell
  • okami
  • gow of war
  • final fantasy tactics
  • devil may cry
  • killzone
  • onimusha
  • medal of honor
  • resident evil
  • zone of the enders
  • silent hill
  • gran tursismo
  • wipeout
  • wrc
  • final fantasy
  • jak and daxter
  • sly cooper
  • rathet & clank
  • abes odysee
  • metal gear solid
  • tekken
  • dead or alive
  • street fighter
  • star ocean
  • dragon quest
  • kingdom hearts
  • GTA
  • red dead
  • the getaway
  • dropship
  • ace combat
  • armoured core
  • indigo prophecy
  • fear effect

I could go on and on and on and on...... but its easy to see that the list above has like only 2 or so games in the first person genre. There was soooo much variety in games that its actually sad when comparing it to the games coming out these days. In truth, I think that we have western developers to blame for this. They are more inclined to make something first person while the japs only seem to know how to make things third person.

In that list above, though nowheer near exhasutive, there are only like 8 of those games that are still being actively reiterated. most of the other games or even their "type" of game are completely lost to us now or replaced by some form of First person iteration of it.

Everything is freaking gold/brown , its like it was made by Michael Bay.
why do developers always do this?

I thought different shades of gray was Michael Bay's thing.

OT: Looks cool. Still not sure what to expect from this game, though.

The man has a thing for sunsets I guess.

4 ≈ One

well, thats another game I'm putting on my to get list. damn, it looks good.

I don't see your point. if you're judging games based solely on what perspective they're in, we have much more variety today than say 10 years ago. Yes, there are more FP games, but there was a severe lack of those titles during the GC/PS2/Xbox era. I can only think of a handful...Killzone, Halo, COD, and...Metroid I guess? I also don't see how COD, KZ, Battlefield, or Halo would be better in TP.

Also, almost every one of those games you just mentioned are still coming out today, some as spiritual successors, reboots, or direct sequels. The gaming industry is a lot larger now. Variety is definitely there, especially with the indie scene being so big now.

There is something for everybody, and there's a whole lot of games coming out for every genre.

Real world to me looks like this

not THIS (which a lot of developers love to do)

it hurt my weird eyes, maybe i should wear glasses that block out the sepia filter.

Let me hit you with some science.

When the sun is low in the horizon, the sunlight has to travel through more particles in the atmosphere.

You see sunlight as white, but it's made up as a combination of the colors of the spectrum.

Those particles will tend to scatter away the blue and green light part of the sunlight's spectrum, leaving behind the more-difficult-to-scatter red and orange colors. That's because red and orange lights has a longer wavelength than the blue and greens, making it less affected by particles.

Pollution, ash or smoke can enhance the colors as there's more particles to scatter away the shorter-wavelength part of the spectrum.

(I google this)

i know all that, but most games look like that during it's "Day" time and at night it looks like grey.

All of modern crytek games and games running on unreal engine are like this , it annoys me.

This looks like a sunset to me. It could be a sunrise too.

If you watch the first trailer the time of day is sunset to night. It also suggest the game revolves around the end of the world. So it is not really surprising the game is not bubble gum, and candys colors. If you want that play Sunset Overdrive, or something else.

The image of the sun looks like a solar eclipse.

Eh, not really sure what to make of it. The chinese room guys seem competent enough, at least on the technical side, but dear esther was pretentious bullshit and machine for pigs wasn't half as good as the first amnesia. Guess I'll say that I am cautiously optimistic.
