Forums - Sony - Let's entertain the rumor of Sony looking to buy a studio to bolster their first party

If anything stick with a japanes studio. That is where they are weakest.

This is one reason why I still appreciate Nintendo. They don't "buy" studios to make most of their AAA games. They produce them in house.

Didn't they buy Monolith Soft which made Xenoblade and now X?   Also, didn't they say in January they are looking to make more aquisitions?

That's a weird way to look at this, MS and Sony are not exclusively game companies, so why would they just have dozens of in-house game studios from the start? They have to get those studios from somewhere and I don't see what's wrong about buying them, especially if you have great relations with the studios anyhow.

Also it's not like Nintendo has never made any acquisitions of studios, what about Rare for example?

If Sony were to buy a developer studio, they should get one that they know for a long, long time and had a fruitful and excellent business relationship over the years.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Why is it that no matter how intelligent people are, they simply can't differentiate between the words "most" and "all?" And to answer your question directly, Nintendo use to be a card maker. They decided to dedicate themselves at some point to the craft of game maker. That's something we should all appreciate, even if we don't like their games anymore. They're sort of like the last of the Mohecans imo.

But I'm not bashing Sony or MS. My post was more to show respect for Nintendo for their way of developing things in house etc. It's pretty special these days.

Capcom... make Monster Hunter Exclusive to PS Vita, Next Resident Evil and Street Fighter exclusive for PS4... Win win for SONY in Japan

The Bitch is back! And better then ever! #BritneyReturns

SONY Bring them BACK for PS4 and VITA!

Capcom: always wanted a new Onimusha, and since the day Monster Hunter came out on PS2 ive always wanted a PS3 and now a PS4 Monster Hunter that actually uses the power of an actual console and not a handheld game...

Konami: Just so MGS goes back to being exclusive and the most important reason (so i can finally get a sequel to my favorite game of all time) so we get ZONE OF THE ENDERS 3, we know Sony supports a lot of games that are niche and/or aren't big sellers so if there is any company out there that could make/publish ZOE 3 that's Sony.

EDIT: yeah From Software would also be really nice.
