There's just no way the PS4 and Xbone will get 10 years of support. All 9th gen consoles will be out by 2018, and by 2020 the PS4 and Xbone's sales will be next to nothing. |
2018... that puts the PS4/XB1 at 5yrs on the market? You must have not learnt anything from the last gen.
Maybe the next wii will be out in 2019, but I expect both the PS5/XB2 to be announced and released in 2020. It will give the PS4/XB1 7yrs on the market, which is at least less than the 8yrs the 360/PS3 had on the market. The 5-6yr console cycles are history.

I've read that VGC adjusts its figures when official numbers are released, so I'm curious... Has anyone kept track of VGC's accuracy over time? I'd be very interested to see a comparison of VGC's estimates vs official numbers. If anyone's been tracking VGC's numbers before adjustments, it may be possible to create a line chart showing a margin of error. Does that make sense?

Here... something like this...

Rather than exact numbers, the idea would be to show estimates as a range of probabilities. And by tracking how closely VGC's predictions match official numbers over time, that range may even be narrowed (or, indeed, widened).
It's just a thought but it's something I've wondered about for a while.

You got a date wrong that you were basing your entire argument on. Now, I didn't call you a liar, but you were obviously wrong and I'm glad that you now know.

and a false premise that vgchartz post adjusted numbers = accurate tracking for PS4

There are some people that post pre-adjusment and post-adjument for the week, maybe someone have historic data... and probably ioi have the information backed up for all weeks and how much adjustments he made... some mod may know it... try to talk to Axumblade or Smeags.

NPD threads usually have it.

They have the VGC numbers before NPD adjustments (done like one week or more later), but there are some cases that they take 6 months or 2 years to correct (like X360 numbers) or some that they correct a week later and don't get exposed in the NPD thread (besides that being USA only)... but it helps a little at least.

It isn't confirmed. And most likely a typo. Read the OP before posting.
