Forums - Gaming - Anyone else feel games without achievements/trophies are a waste of time?

Unified achievements/trophies systems are definitely not what I lose sleep over in Nintendo games But if something so simple can make people play more games then I don't understand why Nintendo won't create it.  Stickers and other in game achievements are one step forward, I guess.

Not really, trophies/achievements are cool, but they're not necessary.

Very much so.

trophies/achievements mean zero. just extra time sinks

Sad if you play a game only to get achievements...

While I understand your point sadly I don't agree with it. They are a cool addition but not what I look for when playing a game nor or they something that would make me want to play a game. So they are good but not something that is absolutely needed.

Depends on the game. Some games reward you for progressing towards 100%, others reward you for getting three headshots less than one sec. away from each other with a .44 Magnum while performing a double backflip passing through a ring of fire.
If the achievements are coherent, then yes, they are a great adittion. If you have to spend eight hours searching for 250 extremelly small hidden collectibles only worth for the achievement then no.

in a world where games suck achievements come in handy.

The day I play a game mainly for achievements is the day I take a good look at whether I need to quit gaming altogether. Play games for fun. Achievements are just sprinkles on the ice cream.

On the contrary.. trophies and achievements in games (for me) are a complete waste of time. I play video games to get enjoyment out of it. Not to go to great lengths to get some virtual points that mean jack shit.
