It could be from the Steam version.

I am just sad that there are hardly any good JRPGs anymore. I am 40 hours in Xenoblade and it is an amazing game but man, I miss old Squaresoft.
I was a huge FF fan until 7, and it killed the series for me. I just hated it. Had high hopes for 8, hated that too.
You added an extra I and put in the wrong screenshots and character situations. FFVI is the best game for my money.
Something can't 'still' be the best, if it never was the best to begin with. IMO FFVII was where FF began it's long sad decline.
While I do think ff7 is great and certainly up there towards the top. The best rpg ever made is actually suikoden 2...
That motherfucker misspelled Final Fantasy IX pretty badly!

One can definitely make a convincing case for FFVII being the best RPG ever, but the author certainly isn't making one.
He/she spends a lot of time simply championing turn-based RPGs. Sure, they're great, but how does this relate to VII specifically. Then, instead of explaining to us why the story is so great, he attacks detractors as "cynical haters."
Then he/she describes a dynamic world filled with air ships and Chocobos -- again, how does this relate to FFVII specifically?
When he/she does touch on specific features -- the game's materia system and its cast -- the points are unconvincing. The materia system was an interesting innovation, but I find that the traditional locked class/jobs system is more challenging and rewarding. As for the cast in FFVII, it represents a significant step backward from previous games in the series. Supporting characters are underdeveloped, and Cloud, while aesthetically very interesting, is a little robotic.
Personally, I'd pick Deus Ex as the best RPG ever, with FFVI a close second.
