They actually had a real price drop for them since Kinect is less than $100. I don't think they will feel comfortable to pulling down the margin even further.

Business is more important than the console war and business can be good even when the war is lost.

I agree that your thoughts make the most sens for the short term.  The problem is that we learned a lot last generation about how multi player games impact console sales.  If all of my friends have a PS4, I will get one to play the games with them.  THat went a long way for the 360 with it's year headstart on the PS3.

We all know that if the XB1 gets too much further behind, it will become completely irrelevent in the general publics mind.

We do?

If you say so.

So, are you ssaying that the sales of a product aren't indicative of the publics perception of the product?

As the PS4 has continued to sell more and more, it makes more people aware that it is available and the thing to get.  We have watched how the sales of the XB1 have slowly slid lower and lower since January.

I have an XB1 and am not a hater.  But, the facts are the facts.

MS XBO wont be in same situation as Nintendo WiiU as long as 3rd parties continue to support it. At whatever point, MS has that price or releases that exclusive that galvanizes the X360 core audience into migrating up, they will start really accelerating the adoption rates.

TitanFall was pretty impactful, but it was multiplayer only and also available on PC and X360. When they have an exclusive like Halo 5 that has single player & multiplayer, and only on XBO, then more of the X360 core audience will get convinced to upgrade.

Price is and will always remain a factor, but I think at present the main issue is the reason to spend any money at all if you are totally happy with X360 or whatever other consoles you might be playing on.

The x1 is loosing to much ground, especially in europe the sales are almost irrelevant. If the x1 gets ignore in europe and japan, then thouse countrys wont develope ports to their games for the x1, then the x1 will see les and less multiplats, witch is sadly almost all of their games since their first party is only 4 games.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

There really are no must have games to play. Wait to the exclusives start coming like Sunset Overdrive, Halo Collection and Forza Horizion 2. This holiday season is the time to start looking at buying a next gen console.

Yes and it will allow MS to move in first position and kill both Sony and Nintendo along with all their fanboys!

Then they will release dx12 and unleash the powers of the cloud to pull ahead in therms of performance as well! /s

Obviously the price will drop, sales are still way below expectation s (if MS still want to sell 1 billion of these thing s).

No.  I'm saying that if it falls futher behind it wont become "completely irrelevant

Thats a load of nonsense.  Hyperbole.

I agree that if you take "completely irrelevant" (spelling) out of the sentence, it will sound like nonsense.  But if you add back in the last 5 words of that sentence "in the general publics mind" it has a different meaning.  To the gaming community, it won't be irrelevant.  To the genreal public it will be.  If a product doesn't hold the publics mindshare, it is irrelevant

Not this year. Two price cuts in one year wouldn't be good for the company's image and finances. They are already on the sweet spot with $399. Let the games arrive and people will buy it.

Great comment! So much truth in it.

PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS

A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!

I don't think a price drop is coming to X1. However, a price drop for X360 and most likely PS3 is coming though. Maybe at Gamescom or by mid September. With a lot of games being pushed to 2015 what better way to fill the sales void by giving your last gen system one last big push. That's why MS has FH2 on X360 and why Sony has LBP3 on PS3. A good price drop and Black Friday kick off with help them both.
