Hype?! The game got slaughtered on forums and everyone expected it to be absolutely bad while it turned out to be a fun game.

Those games that are most overhyped might not actually be known yet, such as Drive Club, Destiny, Sunset Overdrive and the Order...all of which are prime candidates. |
Tiny minority? Please. The same could be said for any hyped game. Are you forgetting the 60-odd E3 2013 awards including best in show, cleaned up at Gamescom, won the 'Most anticipated game' for at VGX, had a monsterous marketing budget, was lauded by IGN as multiplayer gamings 'next big thing' and with such quotes as 'you will buy a XB1 for Titanfall and you should', and was packed into the XB1 for free. Watchdogs on the other hand, was revealed to a fair bit of hype, but by the time it landed its hype (around here at least) was so low that people were writing it off as a flop.
Despite that, Watchdogs on PS4 has outsold Titanfall on XB1 in 1/4 of the time.

Titanfall. not that it wasnt a good game, however it was hyped to be a game changer on the scale of Halo CE or CoD4, but when it released it wasnt even close to doing so.
Titanfall and Watch dogs.
TitanFall. Everyone thought it was CoD4 2.0 and that it would kill CoD and shit on BF. Nothing of these things happened, not even close.
Titanfall, WD and MK8.
Titanfall is by far the worst offender, but WD came close (tough I think many of us saw trough it before launch) and MK8 is absolutely the same game that fans clamor about just to have a prettier gen-old cart racer... now for 60$.

Out of what I played, mariokart 8. It was a good game and a lot of fun but it was just an incremental update over mk7. Underwhelming for a game praised touch high heavens. By far most of the games I played this year have been 2013 games.
