Forums - Gaming - Real talk: What's up with Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV?

Kingdom Hearts 3 isn't an issue, it was simply shown off too early. The game only really began development in the last 16months.

FFXV is what I'm worried about (been in developement on and off since 2006), when they had that gameplay blowout at e3 last year, I thought they moving forwards towards a fall 2014 launch in japan but it seems not. Its like what have they been doing all this time? As someone mentioned they could waiting for bigger hardware numbers in Japan but releasing their game would generate that and in this day and age, any massive console game is getting 80% of its revenue from the west.

Every 7th gen game from SE had the same problem, FFXIV 2.0

They just invested too much in the game, sacrificing every other ones. But it was worth it, now FFXIV is finally rolling.

FFXV problem is :

Announced too early.
Developpment chaos after most of the staff moved on FFXIV 2.0
Dev chaos after the staff came back, big question about porting the game on ps4, using luminous engine or not.
Not being satisfied with the current state of the game, as main FF serie might be dying.

It's just that they always announce their games too early.

HD development simply overshot Japan. Few of the larger firms are doing a good job at making HD games profitably. It's not a SE exclusive event.

Just for measure, FFXV was announced when I was in 7th grade. Now I am going into my third year of college. Eff Square Enix.

When FF15 was announced, the PS2 was the dominant console.
