Well, if you only play any of those games than you are a dedicated gamer not a diverse gamer... but there isn't anything wrong with that, if you just like sport games, fps or any other genre it's good for you, just losing some great games along the way. And one could say if you don't get a high count in CoD you are a newbie and not a real gamer... it just seems that a lot of people want to dictate what is the proper way to be a real gamer and that anything else is void.

TBH I pretty much doubt a person is a real gamer if they just play mainstream stuff like the above mentioned. I mean a real cineast is def noone that just watches G.I.Joe or Transformers etc. I would call someone like this a person that likes movies but not a cineast.

People taking pictures are also not photograpers, people owning a guitar are no guitarists and people that draw some pictures are also no painters.

I politely disagree. Anyone who games often is a real gamer, maybe not a interesting one or even inteligent one or hardcore (altough some would say that someone that dedicates himself to a sole game is more hardcore than we common gamer). A cineast shoots movies, independent of genre or quality, someone that watch a lot of movies (even if they are just flickers) likes movies and could be a cinephile, even if it's strange since we associate "real gamer" or "cinephile" with someone that likes and knows about the hobby, but that would be a coinneseur not one of the previous one.

People who take pictures are photographers, not professional one, amateur or enthusiastic perhaps. People who play guitar (even if bad) are guitarists, just owning it doesn't make him a guitarrist tough, someone that really knows how to play a guitar could be a musician or any other term they preffer to use.

You need to diferentiate what is profeciency, dedication or just liking to do some thing.

You could just buy an Apple TV and stream the trailers, gameplays from twitch and everything else since you lack the qualities of a real gamer.

Under that definition, if you don't play FPS at all, or sports games, you're not a diverse gamer. I really think we all need to just put the guns down and accept the word "gamer" as meaning anyone who plays any games on any device for any length of time. If a person plays games, they are a gamer.

Too bad it'll never happen because...you know...hate. lol
