Personally, I'm not a fan of mindless enemies, zombie or otherwise. Zombie horde games, especially, turn into a chore for me.

I don't mind them IN games, like those in Fallout 3/NV, as they do given an eeriness and sense of fear in small doses, but all of that is lost when they're the focal point or they're just target practice dummies. I don't really mind them when they're tough and not to be taken lightly, either. Something like Dead Rising, though? Not my cup of tea.

I definitely agree. I don't mind zombies as ONE of the enemies in the game. Fallout is an excellent example, along with Zelda. I just hate when the game is completely based around zombies (like Dead Rising) or DLC zombies (like Undead Nightmare from Red Ded).

For the most part, the games play similarly with similar plot and all. Some games do it better like TLOU, but the basic premise is always repetitive.

um no

tlou isnt a zombie game, dead island is mediocore at best, h1z1 isnt even out yet, dayz hasnt gone out of alpha, sunset isnt out or even on a sony console, and RE hasnt been RE since 2005

sony doesnt have a good zombie game thats comparable to L4D and dead rising that are on XB in fact sony doesnt have a FPS or TPS that can match Halo or gears but thats a topic for another day

i would ike to see a good zombie game exclusivly on sonys console that can reminiss the old RE games L4D dead rising ect. the only thing that i can think of is dead nation which does a great job with its atmoshpere and enviroments but will never become mainstream since its topdown with litttle story telling that game would be a huge franshise if it was TP or FPS with more story telling

or we could end this all if R* will give us undead nightmare DLC with GTA5 but looking how stripped GTA5 is compared to GTASA, i wouldnt hold my breath on that one

As a zombie fan, I'm displeased that you consider infected from Sunset Overdrive or The Last of Us "zombies".

Well Zombies did start off as an undead person brought back by magical means... and then there was space radiation, and then biohazard infections. And the term will keep expanding. Frankly I consider the fungus infection in the Last of Us another branch of Zombies, especially because it is based off the real life fungus that creates what everyone affectionally refers to as Zombie Ants.

Not until I get my HD remake of Resident Evil 2.

You're writing to the wrong people then, which might asplain why you're not seeing much success in getting the remake made.

I don't see TLOU as a zombie game per se. Particularly because in the end it's the human remnant that is the true enemy. The hunter groups, the oppressive military regime, and even the fireflies. By the middle of the game the infected are more of a backdrop to the story and simply serve as the reason for why we are playing in a post apocalyptic society. The peaceful human settlements, like that of Tommy's have to defend themselves against other humans moreso than against the infected.

But it does fit in survival horror as a genre. So is the complaint about the survival horror genre, or about zombies being in games of various genres. Seems like we are not oversupplied with survival horror. But that zombies are infiltrating other genres.

At least infamous 2 went for vampires with Festival of Blood, which was a great DLC.

By the (very broad) definition of zombies today, it most certainly is. A parasite (in this case, fungus) takes over a human, and disfigures them, giving them much greater resistance to pain and having their only goal be spreading by having the zombie bite a living human. When bitten, it for all intents and purposes kills the humanity of its host by destroying the brain cells. While the host is technically alive, it resembles in every single way a zombie.

I still think that this "written letters by fans" was completely fabricated bullshit. This would be the optimal scenario.
The worse scenario would be that Sony actually got these letters and is so out of touch with gaming that they actually believed we need more zombie games. That one is a lot bleaker.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Did fans really write about wanting more zombies?

As to the ongoing discussion about the definition of zombie, I have only this to say. If a zombie apocalypse ever happened, people would probably be in disbelief at first, but eventually, they'd start calling the creatures zombies. Wouldn't matter what "kind" of zombie it was. Be they fast, slow, undead, infected, magical, sci-fi, virus, parasite, whatever the case may be, they'll be called zombies. The term is just too popular and engrained into our culture. The only people who will classify the zombies beyond just "zombie" are the zombie apocalypse enthusiasts that actually think about and plan for the zombie apocalypse for fun.

As to the OP, that's really depressing. I agree, people need to not write to Sony asking for zombies. We have enough already.

People sent in letter saying how much they love zombies? LOL

But seriously, zombie games are plentiful because they are popular/sell well.

I want them to stop, maybe I should send a letter.
