this. im gonna use this anytime someone brings up this argument

Yet only a few of their divisions are actually helping them make money.  Movies, music, video games, and financial.  All the other divisions are barely making money or dragging them down (not sure about medical field).  Their TV division has been the worst for them and I don't think focusing on 4k will help (I believe it will actually hurt them because the average person will just buy a Samsung or LG LCD or LED.  4K is like 3D in my opinion.  They bet kind of heavy on 3D and do you see people wearing those stupid glasses to watch TV much these days?  Sure some people do but most are content with LCD/LED/plasma quality.  It is like VR.  Cool idea but the price is nowhere near mass market appeal.

I come back to see this has changed from a joke thread to a serious one, for some reason.

Let's give out some fun facts.

Sony just reported that they will be making losses of around $487 million sales and it ecpects to keep going down next year. Not hating, but i'm just proving they aren't the only one not doing well. PS4 obviously can't just make profits alone.

Fun fact.... don't come talking sony then only mention playstation. Thats like saying the only thing microsoft does is xbox.

"Sony" is made up of 3 main arms

Electronics

  • audio
  • computing
  • photography
  • video
  • semiconductor and component
  • medical
  • sony mobile (xperia)
  • sony computer entertainment (Playstation)

Entertainment

  • Sony pictures
  • Sony Music

Finance

  • sony financial services

Now lets look at nintendo.

Nintendo

  • Home consoles
  • Handheld consoles
  • software
  • Thats it.
If sony has issues cause one or two arms of its vast corporation is doing very poorly and compromising the efforts of the other arms that are doing well, I strongly doubt that should be looked at in the same light as a company that is failing in the ONLY thing they are doing.

Actually, Nintendo has other businesses, like animation, toys, pokémon cards and other kinds of merchandising. And a baseball team (don't remember the name). I don't know how profitable this things are, but I'm sure they make decent money, not as much as their main business, but decent nonetheless.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

or atleast the mass market strategy

Casual gamers got the wii and got hooked on wii sport, wii dogs and all that stuff.
the only semi casual game they also picked up was mario kart wii ( best selling racer of all time ).
And they loved it, from the easy tracks to the for them impossible rainbow road.

mario kart wii u is the problem here word to mouth goes that the new mario karts rainbow road isn't hard at all, they miss the challenge of staying ahead of the leader and try to avoid being lapped.

Wii was a fluke, other than Snes or Nes I forget which one. Nintendo's not been the leader in the home console space.

The non-gaming mainstream drawn to the Wii have now gone to phone/tablet. Leaving the Wii U with fanbase it had with the Gamecube. While it gained many new editions, it lost many dedicated gamers who were dissapointed in nintendo's performance slash actually wanted good multiplats

So Wii U is looking at Sub-GameCube numbers realistically and around gamecube numbers optimistically.

majority of all you just said fall under merchandising. Which everyone including sony and MS has. Eg, MS upcoming halp tv series. that falls under merchandising cause MS doesn't have a dedicated animation/movie arm. Sony has a dedicated video arm, that hands movies and animations and even a Tv station. Like if there were to be an uncharted movie, be rest assured that it would be made by columbia pictures or something.

I know a year or so ago nintendo dabbled in animation shorts of certain key franchises, but those shorts were made by third party animation studios.

Hey now, I played Wii Dogs every day for about a year. Don't bash it.

Wii Dogs was the precursor to Watch Dogs right?

No. We all know Ubisoft wouldn't do anything nice like that for Nintendo.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

They want to make things always in their own way cof cof not changing to x86 architecture, gamepad, another wii cof cof

And this is what happens
