or atleast the mass market strategy

Casual gamers got the wii and got hooked on wii sport, wii dogs and all that stuff.
the only semi casual game they also picked up was mario kart wii ( best selling racer of all time ).
And they loved it, from the easy tracks to the for them impossible rainbow road.

mario kart wii u is the problem here word to mouth goes that the new mario karts rainbow road isn't hard at all, they miss the challenge of staying ahead of the leader and try to avoid being lapped.

Wii was a fluke, other than Snes or Nes I forget which one. Nintendo's not been the leader in the home console space.

The non-gaming mainstream drawn to the Wii have now gone to phone/tablet. Leaving the Wii U with fanbase it had with the Gamecube. While it gained many new editions, it lost many dedicated gamers who were dissapointed in nintendo's performance slash actually wanted good multiplats

So Wii U is looking at Sub-GameCube numbers realistically and around gamecube numbers optimistically.
