That's not true - consider countries that are majorly PC gamer nations like Russia (+Belarus and Ukraine) and China. The consumers over there are also quite average... but still, PC gaming rules the roost.
As for the thread topic... open it up, or have someone open it up for you, and clean the fan (and if you can, replace the thermal grease on your CPU and GPU). My laptop also loves overheating if I don't do that every year or a year and a half...
