During the Square Enix Investors Meeting held today in Tokyo the company illustrated its strategy for next the future, and Dragon Quest franchise Executive Producer Yuu Miyake answered a question asking whether the series could appear on Sony consoles in the future.

Miyake-san explained that it’s possible, as it has been released on a variety of hardware so far. Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda followed up asking to be patient and wait for future announcements on the issue.

This comes after the series’ creator Yuji Hori strongly hinted that Dragon Quest XI is being developed for home consoles a couple weeks ago.

That said, Miyake-san also mentioned that user trends show that the series appeals to an audience that isn’t necessarily playing on dedicated gaming consoles, and he wants the franchise to be accessible everywhere, so more mobile Dragon Quest games seem to be definitely on the menu (surprising absolutely no one).

This is a question I'm interested in seeing the answer to! It would be quite a nice surprise to me to see DQXI come to WiiU.
He does make a point about maximum reach... so maybe cross-platform is an option.

Yep DQVIII iOS port to the Vita, it even connects to the "making Vita games lolololo" statement.

As long as it isn't a shitty mmo, and as I said before, I would prefer it on ps4 just so I have the import option just in case.

If Horii demands a console, PS4 is more likely due to the greater ability to internationalize and DQX's poor performance on Wii U (although it's hard to point to that game as evidence, as it was an MMO that nobody really wanted). 3DS would be on its last legs if they announced tomorrow and it took 2 years to come to market, while PS4 will be just at or past the halfway mark in 2016 or so?
