If Monolith remakes Xenosaga the it's Nintendo exclusive. Even if Namco is in, it'll still be exclusive, considering all other games from Monolith Namco has been exclusive since buyout.

Does Namco own the IP?

Yes, but it's only going to be outside as a Nintendo exclusive if they outsource Xenosaga.

Ahh i see. So Namco could easily outsource it to another dev or do it themselves? Something like this is not a concrete Nintendo exclusive then. After seeing what Namco did with Tales of Symphonia, it's entirely possible.

I wouldn't mind a Xenosaga collection since I've never played any of the Xenosaga games! Are they any good compared to the masterpiece that is Xenoblade?

They are not as good as Xenoblade but they are still very good games int heir own right with a pretty good story. I personally liked 1 & 3 the best.

Nice. I think I might give the 3rd game a try, then wait until the Xenosaga collection comes out so that I can play the other two games as well!

You know that's not only possible but likely, right?  Namco will own the source code to Xenosaga because it's their IP.  Just like Microsoft don't need Bungie to HD up Halo 2; Namco don't need Monolith to HD up Xenosaga.

I absolutely hate the xenosaga games. Their cut scenes make Hideo Kojima look like a master of brevity.

They don't need Monolith but they want Monolith. Hence the line "if there was a remake I’d want the original staff to work on it". An interesting fact is that they did remake Xenosaga (Xenosaga I & II) with the help of Monolith Soft and the remake was Nintendo (DS) exclusive. Interestingly this was before Nintendo's purchase of Monolith

DS remake was pretty mucha plea for Nintendo to buy them as was Baten Kaitos. They wanted Nintendo to buy them actually.

Considering where Monolith is, I don't think we'd ever get a remake/remaster of Xenosaga... unless Nintendo gave Namco a lot of money.

Monolith still does a touch of third party work (Project X Zone was partly them, i think). I think Nintendo would be cool with it as long as Wii U got it, and likely got it first/best.

Huh? Project X Zone was still a Nintendo exclusive

Regarding the xenosaga series remake, i'd buy it without a doubt. But how about (re)making the series how it was originally planed? I mean the full fledged 6 part series where part 5 is xenogears. That would be THE ultimate annoncement for me.
