You know that's not only possible but likely, right?  Namco will own the source code to Xenosaga because it's their IP.  Just like Microsoft don't need Bungie to HD up Halo 2; Namco don't need Monolith to HD up Xenosaga.

They don't need Monolith but they want Monolith. Hence the line "if there was a remake I’d want the original staff to work on it". An interesting fact is that they did remake Xenosaga (Xenosaga I & II) with the help of Monolith Soft and the remake was Nintendo (DS) exclusive. Interestingly this was before Nintendo's purchase of Monolith

DS remake was pretty mucha plea for Nintendo to buy them as was Baten Kaitos. They wanted Nintendo to buy them actually.
