ok nintendo appeal this and get this done and over with because this could be the end of the wii u as we speak :O

Oh, Please. At the very worst Nintendo can drop the wii mote and sensor from the Wii u. They hardly use it anyway. This is what this case is about.

It being the UK is probably why Nintendo use the CAB as lawyers.

BTW it has been confirmed Nintendo will appeal.

ok thats good at least they can try again

o o nintendo not a hardware company after all ,

yes and No, they may pay for technology to use in devices they may have made, so in that sense no they are not a hardware company just like Microsoft and Sony are not in components they do not make. So for instance Sony does not make harddrives, So they have to buy that component off of another company. That  is not really any real change from what Nintendo and Sony are both doing in this case.

Ony thing  you could say is ;  unlike Nintendo Sony has more hardware components they build in house than buy from 3rd party more than Nintendo does.

Because Nintendo still designs aspects of the system and components because they have other companies produce the component, does not make them anyless of a hardware company, because without the design of such component there is not a component at all so it goes hand in hand with design along with production..they still need both parts to have the component. be that design is Nintendo's and produced by foxconn, its still Nintendo's component design.

It does, the camera is in the WiiMote itself!

An infrared sensor is not a camera.

you do not know there is a camera inside the wiimote, it seems?

well here ya go!

If anyone is curios here are the two patents

https://search.rpxcorp.com/patents/US6285379B1

https://search.rpxcorp.com/patents/US8537231B2

I have a hard time figuring out how they infringed a patent issued in 2013 with a product released in 2006.

Also this topic has been posted before.

More companies should be like Tesla, imo, and go the "open-source" patent route. It would mean a lot more innovation in the industry.

                                                                                                               You're Gonna Carry That Weight.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

Patent law is so broken. Instead of encouraging and protected innovation, in it's current form it only stifles innovation.

iTS KINDA SILLY IN MY OPINION FOR THIS TO BE SEEN AS INFRINGEMENT, BUT TO BE STRAIGHT TO THE POINT

its quite simple the infringement vector is thus:

Because of the design of Wiimote uses Ircamera as the "irpointer" its that right there that is the problem, Sony's and Microsoft's donot do that in the same manner because its not a camera inside a handheld device doing the pointing, its pretty much the camera "picking up" you or somthing you are holding, and tracking that, while with Nintendo's its reverse of what Microsoft and Sony are doing..I know its silly rather Dumb in my opinion...but thats the problem with the patent laws in some cases in my opinion but thats not for me to decide though.

100% agreement, though i do understand it from a companies perspective to protect what they create, but on the same token its rather silly to try to stop others from improving on such designs...lol i mean look at philips, they really did not or was not doing anything with the patent other than wait to pounce on some company to make a viable usage product of such patent, though its in the right of the patent holder to decide that, but such is life for laws, general use and open source is in my opinion the way to go, pay a lil bit up front than that covers the usage. but there is so many d@mn patents how would you ever get done..lol paying before you even release such a product. hell just in patent fee's alone you could spend way more than the product is worth @ retail just paying for a part of the product just so you can release such a product..lol
