I'm just wondering how a Roselia vs. Wailord battle would play out in a real-time battle sequence. I don't know if there is a programmer in the world who can make that look fluid.

When I saw Wailord's actual size I really spent some time dwelling on how they could accurately represent Wailord in even a collesium type setting.

It would probably be something like this.

Or limited to first 150, omit the extreme sized pokemon, or just modify their size for the game it doesn't need to be realistic for pokemon honestly.

But Roselia can't fly. In fact, it's usually quite rooted to the ground, being a rose and all. What happens once it uses Ingrain?

Even if you limit it to the first 150, how would a Diglett vs. Onix fight play out? Diglett can't fly either. For that matter, how would a Diglett vs. ANY flyer play out?

Modify their size for parity? Hell naw. This ain't Smash Bros., this is Pokemon. If you have to start making all kinds of concessions for a real-time battle system that sounds like it'll be clunky no matter how you spin it, then it's probably not worth it.

You just have to be creative, it doesn't have to aim for realism. Real time battle systems aren't limited by scale but by the number of character you control at one time.

yeah you should definitely control the actual pokemon... now in memorizing a LOT of key moves would be awesome!!!! this is not sarcarsm..... i imagine a naruto-ish kinda control system while fighting.... that would be nice

you could easily do that map the 4 buttons to a b x y menu to the bumpers and triggers, main menu u with start, the pad could be actual movesets or inventory, In fact Pokemon Adventures has a better story and fighting system then the Anime IMO.

Yes, Pokemon Adventures story would be great!

This thing don't enter on the Nintendo plans on back to basics (Super Mario 3D World, Zelda U)
