Every company starts off slow in a new generation, and it's a convenient thing to latch onto, if you're a fan of one particular side, or another. And I don't know who laid that claim, but saying the PS2 has no games pretty much removes you from any conversation as far as knowledge in the games industry. |
Not entirely true, Xbox people said that at one point and to be fair the PS2 had something of a slow start, if I remember correctly.
But Sony has proven time and time again with all consoles except the Vita that they understand the value of pacing themselves and spreading their quality releases out over a period of time. PS3 was the perfect example of a slow start but the best end of all consoles. Up until 2009, it was kind of trash, but the years between 2009 and 2013, it was the top console by a wide margin, at least in terms of quality and quantity of games. both the Wii and Xbox 360 had great starts but stuttered in 2010 and just basically never recovered. I'd argue the Wii's streak ended in 2008, at that point the games trickled out (Donkey Kong Country Returns, NSMB Wii, Skyward Sword)
