Forums - Gaming - to people freaking out over Phillips...and wii u

I don't get it, are they sued by Phillips too now?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Whats the lawsuit about?

Phillips claim that the Nintendo Wii infringes on two of their patents. Even though the patents are incredibly vague and refer to 'controlling with a device'.

Even one of their patents was filed AFTER the release of the Wii.

Shame on Phillips wanting money.

and still they won?

Well I dont know the exact details but it appears they one the first case in UK or something. So I hope Nintendo appeals it or atleast the cases for USA and Germany and France are overturned.

here read this:http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/06/philips_secures_wii_patent_victory_over_nintendo_in_the_uk

It has more details in it.

Here is the actual case claim by Phillips (or what I am led to believe is the real one).

And this is an excerpt from the claim;

'The present patents-in-suit stem from these fields of research and development and claims protection for an interactive system for which a user can remotely control devices in an intuitive manner. Such intuitive remote control mechanisms are used in present-day home video game consoles'.

Nintendo should just show the judge what Phillips did to Zelda and the judge will rule in Nintendos favor in a heartbeat...

It's about Phillips losing a ton of money when Nintendo agreed a partnership with Phillips to produce SNES-CD (attaching Phillips CD-i to a SNES) after Sony decided to make its own console the Playstation. Nintendo pulled out and agreed instead to allow them to make 3 Zelda Games for the CD-i(Link: The Faces of Evil, Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon and Zelda's Adventure) The CD-i did horrible and all 3 Zelda games sucked (because Phillips outsourced them) Phillips lost a ton of money over a Billion $. Now that Nintendo is hurting really bad and after the success of the Wii, there trying to bankrupt Nintendo by getting royalties from the Wii and banning the Wii U in the USA over supposed patent infringement that they knew about it since at least 8 years for the Wii and 3 years for the Wii U.

Wow so much crazy speculation and  wrong in this post.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Maybe a lot of speculation but not wrong. Why sue now as there hurting and Wii's successes after 8 years?

Yeah it's not gonna be discontinued I agree.

However, in future don't make a thread with such little information in. Either find something to "bulk it up" or post in one of the existing threads. They're there for a reason, after all.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
