Wow, so Nintendo is behind the curve in third party relations...shocker. Also while not DLC, I think you might wanna remember Resident Evil 4...

Though I don't see how this is at all related to the topic at hand.

Sony is investing money in timed DLC while it should in my opinion invest in their own game line-up... Which isn't all that great.

I'm glad Nintendo is behind the curve in third-party relations if you accept BS like this.

How is Sony not investing in their own game line-up? Are their first party studios not working on games for the PS4? You realize that you can't just throw more people at a project and expect it to automatically be done faster, right? Since you're a Nintendo fan I want to remind you again, do you remember how many Wii U games Nintendo has already delayed?

And yeah I accept "BS" like this, I accept it because I know that I also benefit from it, as I for example in 95% of the cases don't have to worry if a third party game is even going to hit my platform of choice.

People buy PS based on hype, not based on the games that are currently available. I never said Sony didn't invest in first-party games, I said they should invest MORE, so they can release their games sooner.

Just because MS did it as well doesn't make it a good thing. They're both wrong, timed DLC sucks.

You cannot expect Sony devs to release games sooner, without ignoring prior generations sooner and their fans appreciate the continuing support of the PS3.  Besides, I prefer devs take as much time as they need to deliver the game they envision, not to rush a game due to exterior pressure.

Bolded:  Expecting any company to stop a proven strategy of their own volition is wishful thinking.  If timed DLC were that big of a deal to gamer's, they would've, en-masse, refused to buy into it.  They didn't, and here we are.

These companies, no matter what they claim, aren't in it for gamer's, they're in it for profit.  If we show them it's not profitable, they will stop (like Microsoft's DRM policy).  If we show them we'll just keep shoveling money at them hand over fist, they're going to continue doing it, and their competitors will quickly pick up and mirror the practice.

Great games you'll sadly miss out on.

Super Smash Bros. 4 has unique stages, modes and trophies for each version.

Downplaying LBP3 because it's on PS3 is not strange. Why would you want to buy a PS4 to play LBP3 if you can just buy it on the PS3?

Does Wii U even have a trophy/Achievemnent system?

Watch Dogs  PS4 - 1.79M

Watch Dogs  PS3 - 0.62M

It's a new generation, people having been playing their PS3's and Xbox 360's for 8 and 9 years already. Unlike others, their respective fans are actually buying the new console(s).

Also, if I want to see those great games I am missing out on I'm sure my girlfriend will show me..

Yes, because Nintendo games are only for kids and girls, right? ;)

Your GF must be lucky to have someone like you!

Who cares about throphies/achievement system by the way? I play for fun, not to brag

So you bring up the concept of trophies to brag about a Wii U game but when asked about the lack of a dedicated trophy system, you downplay it because you don't like to brag. Man, you're running in circles in this thread trying to put out flames everywhere.

I am pro-sony and all, but am I the only one that thinks all this "timed exclusive" stuff has to just stop? It does no good for the gamers. If some is going to buy destiny said person is either going to buy a PS4 or already has one. What good does this do selling less of a game to everyone else?

Ah well, guess we have MS to thank for this kinda nonsesne.

i can see why ms and sony do it, competitive advantage.  i can see why activision and ea does it, money.    ..but yeah i agree.

i have a ton of respect for CD Projekt Red right now for this statement:

"We are treating all gamers equally," said Iwinsky. "We'll not deliver exclusive content to any of the platforms, nor will we artificially delay release of the game on any of the platforms because somebody's paying us money for that. It's definitely against our values. We are not doing that."

that is just downright respectable of them and it makes me want to buy their game all the more.

i'm just really, really glad we haven't seen any retailer specific content yet this gen.  that was even more annoying.

Well yah. While being always happy to get more content on our favorite platform, the reality is that is should not be at the expense of other gamers (same platform or not)...

On retailer content: At least with timed DLC you'll eventualy get it but retailer stuff is just plain retarded :( If they stick to comestic stuff I'm fine with it but when it comes to playable content, it is just so frustrating for someone who want to experience everything possible in a game. (like me :))

Instead Nintendo saves projects that are about to get cancelled ---> Bayonetta 2.

I know which option I prefer.

LOL.

Nintendo also pays third parties for the development of said title for exclusive release on their platform (i.e. the old fashioned moneyhat). They're just more selective and go for full game rather than perks on multiplat games.

Because they actually fund development and publish it. Without Nintendo Bayonetta 2 wouldn't exist.

and?

There are dozens of similar instances of other publishers going and saving games in limbo.

All the money they invest in timed DLC could be invested in their own projects. That's factual.

Good for you that you prefer timed DLC over Sony's first-party line-up. I just don't.

They need to invest MORE in their first-party line-up. I never said they didn't invest in it lol.

I... never... brought... up... the... concept... of... throphies.

I have literaly no idea what you're talking about. You do realize what throphies are in Super Smash Bros. right? God, this is embarrasing.

I am fine with timed DLC.  Sony/Microsoft will alway try to partner wuth 3rd parties on games/content.  This is much better than the alternatives.

From Worst to better

  • Full exclusive game
  • Timed exclusive game
  • Exclusive DLC
  • Timed exclusive game
  • Exclusive marketing agreement
Sure you have to wait for content on the XBox one, but at least it is coming.

Maybe I am little off on My Nintendo language. Been awhile. I'm not familiar with "throphies"

I'm curious how you know for a fact that Sony hasn't invested all they can into the 1st party studios that're currently working on titles for the PS4?  We know they're already in production, so it stands to reason the projects have already been funded.  So, once that's all taken care of, Sony's just supposed to sit on it's hands, and not have OTHER strategies?  Seems like an odd assumption, imo.
