| Samus Aran said: People buy PS based on hype, not based on the games that are currently available. I never said Sony didn't invest in first-party games, I said they should invest MORE, so they can release their games sooner. Just because MS did it as well doesn't make it a good thing. They're both wrong, timed DLC sucks. |
You cannot expect Sony devs to release games sooner, without ignoring prior generations sooner and their fans appreciate the continuing support of the PS3. Besides, I prefer devs take as much time as they need to deliver the game they envision, not to rush a game due to exterior pressure.
Bolded: Expecting any company to stop a proven strategy of their own volition is wishful thinking. If timed DLC were that big of a deal to gamer's, they would've, en-masse, refused to buy into it. They didn't, and here we are.
These companies, no matter what they claim, aren't in it for gamer's, they're in it for profit. If we show them it's not profitable, they will stop (like Microsoft's DRM policy). If we show them we'll just keep shoveling money at them hand over fist, they're going to continue doing it, and their competitors will quickly pick up and mirror the practice.
