Forums - Nintendo - Art Style wont affect Zelda U

We just don't see eye-to-eye. If you think WW would have sold just as well, I have no way to disprove that. I'd say it wouldn't, and you (I assume) have no way to disprove that. I think we should just end this- I won't comment on your opinions on this topic anymore. It was a mistake doing it here, and I apologise for it. I'm not trying to flame you.

I agree. Truce. I don't think you were flaming me lol don't sweat it. I've been trying to be better about not flaming you either.

I'm just looking at all the variables.. The problem is that there could be a million variables, people will still ignore them all and blame art style. Another person mentioned MM and SS both needing accessories. Also ignored.

I take most theories with only one variabe with a grain of salt.

Good to hear

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

Of course art style is going to affect Zelda U. This game looks beautiful and cool, and that will help it sell millions.

The art style would need to be incredibly repellent for me to reject what I know to be a good game. Thankfully for my tastes there has yet to be a Zelda art style to fit that criteria.

Also this guy:

looks nothing like this guy:

And this clear, sweeping, expansive background:

...looks nothing like the blurred, choppy, watercolor background shown here:

Anybody who is doubting that this will be an excellent take on 3D Zelda just needs to watch Gamexplains trailer analysis on youtube. The world is a dynamic, living, beauty and it is only that way because the art style allows them to allocate resources for that.

We shall see.

My prediction is that it will underwhelm, just like Mario 3D U.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Eh? Mario 3D World actually performed above expectations. Most people were not interested in it last E3, and it became one of the best Wii U games and a great Mario game in the end. Zelda U on the otherhand has much more hype than 3D world had, with the endless possibilities the larger scope and open world gameplay provide to the elements of exploration, the seamless nature of overworld/dungeon dynamics, the more natural AI, and what seem to be semi-destructible environments, and an overall better Action-Adventure experience that truly takes advantage of the greater resources that are available, so much more than a realistic/naturalistic style would have allowed it. If people are underwhelmed with the final product it will be likely because Nintendo didn't pull it off very well (unlikely), or that the game was just way overhyped (see: Twilight Princess.)
