Either that or MS didn't feel the numbers, both SW and HW, and didn't want numbers released. And knock off the "no numbers doesn't mean anything" stuff. Of course it does. This game was hyped up to be the GOTY. The savior of the One. And not just by fans, but MS, too. If the numbers were just awesome, you can bet they would be screaming them from the mountain tops. |
not to mention, Titanfall was percieved to be EA's next COD killer. Maybe on the X1 if comparing COD vs Titanfall sales, but that is all. With such a small X1 install base (something I'd imagine EA wasn't expecting and caught off guard with during exclusivity deal), you'd be hard pressed not to believe that sales didn't meet EA's expectation.. I mean, look at their other games and sales vs Titanfall and assumed sales. Anyone really thinking Titanfall had a 50+% attachment rate on the X1 and Titanfall turned out to be THAT blockbuster game for EA? Also, look at Titanfall on the 360.. even smaller sales compared to the X1, but with an 80 mil install base? You know that's got to sting. As for MS case, same could be said.. Titanfall was the "ace" up the sleeve, only to see the PS4 outsell the XB1 in March during a period that there were basically "no games". That's gotta be a big blow to both EA and MS's expectations.
All this PR speak and the magnitude of defenders and their justification for weak sales. Look at what WD did with about the same amount of ads and being a multi console release. To add, with the dudebro shooter fanbase in the gaming community, Titanfall should/could of sold better... definitely should/could of been better than WD with a multi console release.
