I guess people who are still claiming that the gap is closing care.

I guess that only leaves the cloud as an option for parity.

Parity?

What resolution is Sunset Overdrive's PS4 version?

By parity i assume he means how 1080p is a consistent standard for PS4 exclusives but not X1 exclusives. I believe The Order is the only exception, but that's a whole different can of worms. The only sub-1080p PS4 exclusive yet it will have the best image quality of them all

That's what i'm guessing he meant anyway. Outside of that i can't think of another context for the word "parity" that makes any sense :p

Well, who really cares anyway? The game looks awesome and it seems to be a blast to play. I'd rather play a fun game with great gameplay in 900p than a dull one with mediocre gameplay at 1080p.

Still I thought that SO could do 1080p. A little concerning, but nothing to cry about or argue over IMO.

Which begs the question, why isn't the game optimized better when it's an exclusive? This game would really benefit from a higher frame rate, like other people have pointed out.

Is there another sub-1080p game i don't know about? Or are you including the black bars?

If it's the latter then it's only "full 1080p" on a technically. Including the bars the final image is indeed 1920 x 1080, but the game itself is 1920 x 800.

I previously though it was simply a tactic to reduce to the resource cost, but it's pretty obvious now it was an actual design choice. They didn't simply cut the top and bottom off, they've actually extended the horizontal render region. That along with the 4xMSAA essentially negates any benefit the lower render resolution would provide.

Not one of those pictures has a clear sky lol

And I meant just by normal gameplay. Shit gets hectic.

Awesome video. MP looks very interesting. I also love how you are basically penalized for playing the game like a typical action game/shooter. They are forcing you to utilize the different gameplay.

Being exclusive doesn't mean developers mastered the hardware. Its clear X1 is something developers are still learning to work with.

Its funny, people are obviously ignoring the progress we've seen in a relatively short time just because its not parity.

Lastly, just about every game benefits from a higher frame rate. I can't think of a single game that left me feeling 30 fps is ideal.

I expected 60 FPS for this game being a shooter. Seems like either Insomniac is still having problems with tools (or) hardware is not sufficient for their game details.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

Xbox 900p strikes again, let's see what's up next for Delaystation 4.

Bolded: I don't follow. Can you explain the delay?

OT: I hope that if a game isn't 1080p then at least make it 60fps or vice versa.  Then at least you know the devs are trying to reach the 1080p/60fps goal but doesn't seem like they're trying and the game doesn't look that visually hard.  Reminds me of a last gen game.

Well if it looks like sht then let it be smooth sht cause everybody likes their sht going smoothly.

Please post links to any last-gen open world videos (or indeed, any last gen game) that looks nearly as good as SO.

I would argue GTA V, but that game is a tech marvel on last gen consoles.
