Forums - Gaming - IGN's top 5 game announcements of E3

IGNs list is quite safe and predictable. Top 5s will always be open to interpretation and its impossible to please everyone. I only watched Microsoft, Nintendo and EAs conferences live. I watched Sonys announcements in snippets. From my perspective:

1. Mass Effect: Far off and we know nothing about its story and yet it got me really hyped as a huge fan of the trilogy. With Dragon Age releasing I expect Bioware to dedicate all of its resources to it next, it could make a 2015 release.
2. Zelda: Everyone wanted to see the new art style and open-world. The trailer delivered.
3. Mirrors Edge: same as ME, not much shown but hyped as hell.
4. The Last of Us Remastered: First trailer showing the games enhancements. I never owned a PS3 and never played this game. As someone planning on getting a PS4 this was a real shot in the arm encouraging me to get it sooner than I expected. Plus I like the song.
5. Tomb Raider: Just CGI but as a 2015 game its probably an 8th gen exclusive which makes me really excited.

There were tons of nice announcements and reveals but this was all that really got my attention. I consider all of those games day one buys.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Around the Network

I find the lack of Type-0 disturbing... But it's IGN, I should know

grim fandango? bloodborne? star foxU? phanton dust?

IGN Played safe with this list.

HOW THE HECK

does IGN include the GTA remaster but not the Grim Fandango remaster/remake?? Was everyone at IGN born last year?

Soooo. The Anounment of a beta of a game and the rerelease of another ,are bigger announcements than, Lbp3 or bloodborne for example....
(Sigh)
I wonder why they make those videos in the first place.

Around the Network

if #5 was replaced with smash bros stuff......this list would be perfect!

GTA 5, Halo 5, Rainbow Six Siege, Uncharted... pretty much the best games on the list.

Like a dozen other games last gen..sorry we didnt see any gameplay was expected.......Maybe for nintendo fans it was impressive, for anyone who played the vast numebr of big open world games thre last 7 + years it was been there done that.

Are you seriously implying that Nintendo fans haven't played any other open world game for the last 7+ years!? Jesus Christ. This one looks better than all of them and it hasn't even shown gameplay yet.

Too soon to call it better than Skrim (94 MC) or RDR (95 MC) off that trailer.

It's Zelda, the lowest scoring Zelda game on Metacritic still got a 87%. I don't think anyone is worried about how great it will be!

It's the same as the confidence PS4 fans have in Naughty Dog.

Just out of curiosity, since you included a remake/remastering in your top 5, where would you rank a remake of Majora's Mask?

And I personally think the Halo remake + beta of Halo 5 is a lot better! I say this from an unbiased perspective as I haven't played both games. Although I might lend TLOS in the future, my friend has a PS3 + copy.

Open world games have more "moving parts" so its easier to spot flaws, theres more room for things to go wrong compared to a game built around levels or temples. Zelda or not open world games have a lot to prove. Zelda will be great but its too soon to say better than any 7th gen open world game.
