Nintendo fans bash MS and Sony for being arrogant, Doesn't get more arrogant then the holier then thou attitudes at Nintendo. They arrogance has got them in this position with third parties abandoning them.

as some have pointed out, not the brightest way to answer the question. Its supposed to be deflected and just talk about what your doing strong to try and compete with the others and you think it will be close.. NEVER try to compare sales when your getting your ass handed to you.

something along the lines of

"well we think we bring a great line up with .... and after the release of mario kart 8 we are seeing renewed interest in the nintendo line. I believe that we have what it takes to compete and make it a close race"

Arrogance is always the killer of men (in the gaming industry). Look what happened to PS3 after that foolish "Get at 2nd job" bull.

The oppertunity for a turnaround has come and gone, they wasted time and now while they got a much better line up they will be facing the best their comp can do. 2014 was their best time for it, but they wasted most of it. U and PS4 will never be close.

:) He's a PR guy, he has to say these kind of things. Could he have said something better, sure, but he was probably interviewed tens of times across E3, sooner or later he was going to say something stupid.

He's right about one thing though, in terms of total numbers of systems sold, there isn't much separating the big 3 at the moment, not when you consider how many consoles are likely to be sold by the end of the generation. If you forget for a moment that the Wii U was released a year earlier (it actually doesn't matter that it was, it leaves Sony and Nintendo selling software to a comparable user base, which is where all the profit comes from) he is ignoring the momentum that Sony has at the moment and unless Nintendo can manufacture a rather massive turnaround in fortunes he is not going to be able to make anything like that claim this time next year.
