For Mario Maker, are you familiar with Lunar Magic?

No, I am not.

Mario maker looked very user friendly and liked could look like a NES or Wii U game.

(skip through to get an idea of what it does)

It's the Super Mario World ROM editor. Quite easy to use if you're just making your own level (drag and drop, and then adjust size just like Mario Maker) and will obviously be much more powerful than Nintendo's version (custom graphics, custom bosses, custom overworld etc).

Speaking as someone who likes MS the least of the three, Microsoft won. They showed games and nothing else. Sure, they weren't that revolutionary and few of them were exclusive, but they gave people tens of reasons to buy an Xbox One this year.

Nintendo's conference appealed to those who own a Wii U but won't convince anyone who doesn't.

I don't know, to me it seemed they delivered on promise they will focus more on younger children - as a parent I saw tons of stuff there that my kids would love to play (on top of stuff I want like Zelda).

But I wound't say they won, I find all 3 about the same, depending on personal taste.

I just can't get over the ghastly cel-shading. What were they thinking?

I'd put Nintendo either level or slightly ahead of Sony, with Microsoft slightly ahead of that.

The key is with heavy-hitting titles. Microsoft wins with the Halo overload, as Sony and Nintendo's headliners (Uncharted and Zelda) were too sparse and too far out.

I'd say Nintendo has the strongest lineup for 2014 as a first party, however.

Definitely, poor showing from Sony and MS in that regard, really only 2 titles from them.

nintendo won E3 :D

Yes, but I really wanted to see some Star Fox!

I saw Star Fox, I don't know what you're talking about. It was just Miyamoto playing it on a blurred screen, but it was obviously Star Fox, and Miyamoto confirmed as much in an interview.

Not in my book. Sony and MS edge ahead because they are trying to get new comers into the consoles, Nintendo just wants to appease the owners. Obviously, you want to do that, but they need to excite those who aren't already Wii U owner. Other have worded it better than me, but yeah.

Hahaaaaa... no.

Nobody in console gaming is trying to get new users into consoles right now. They're all very focused on competing for the same users.

I would even go so far as to say the hardware manufacturers are more interested in courting publishers than consumers.

Lots of ways to interpret this. Personally it sums it up well for me. Nintendo are staying still, but I'm perfectly okay with that. Certainly preferable to jumping off a cliff.

I haven't really decided who "won" E3. But I'm certainly happy with Nintendo's announcements the most. That's not to say I'm more excited about their overall lineup, but as far as E3 goes, they showed me more stuff I didn't know about that I'm interested in.

I completely disagree with this statement.  In my opinion, Microsoft and Sony's 2009 E3's took this approach of expanding the audience instead of catering to the existing one and that damaged both brands.  Kinect and The Move both emerged from that E3 and did so much brand damage that Microsoft even recently uncoupled that gimmick from its console; Sony didn't even bother including it.

Catering to your core is where I think consoles shine.  Trying to be something you're not alienates your existing console base while presenting false expectations for people coming to your console thinking you've bocome something new.  Not one Kinect or Sony Move product was nearly as good as any of the typical fare out of both those houses.

If they had a good show? Hell yeah.
Did they win? No.

Call me biased, but I liked Sony's conference despite the boring filler. Last Nintendo console I've owned was a second hand N64 with Super Mario 64 and some other games, and I loved it. While I've played Super Mario Galaxy at my cousin's Wii, I didn't feel compelled by it or the controllers. Yes, this is a different console with new games and probably newer experiences, but nothing from the conference, except Mario Maker, makes me want to buy a Wii U. Neither Zelda nor SSM.
