Forums - Gaming - Destiny's resolution is now higher on Xbox One thanks to GPU adjustment

So what happens if you try and use kinect while Destiny is running?

AFAIK the reserve for Kinect was entirely for the camera. You can still do OS functionality even in a game that takes the reserve and gives you a small resolution boost. So you can say record that or go home and the OS will still do it.

Be nice if it can match the PS4 now, then we can stop with all these resolution threads.

Nah! Resolution threads will never end! They will keep coming, and coming, and coming........ X_X

That's what I asked every time but no one wants to answer that.

Depends on what you mean by "using Kinect". Obviously, the core os no longer reacts to your flailing arms and legs, so nothing happens when you do it. Voice commands still have to work, though. So if you yell, Kinect will still answer.

Also the snap function very likely will still work. Hence it is not the full 10% reservation a game can grab, let's say around 8%. What does this mean for the resolution game?

Well if you have 8% more gpu, you can raise the resolution by roughly 4% in xy. if you start with 800p, you'd get 832p. If you start at 900p, you'd end at 936p. Still way too far from 1080p, so if Bungie found a way to significantly increase the resolution, it will be through cutting corners and optimisations, not by cutting the Kinect (though that helps a little, obviously).

Wow, so now MS is actively encouraging gamers and developers to stay away from kinect? Talk about a 180.

i think originally they were talking about how the patch affects the xbox then stated it was up to developers to implement the extra bandwidth (not actually disconnecting the kinect) then saying that bungie is taking advantage of this. They didnt actively tell anyone to stay away or anything like that.

So what exactly is the relationship between the extra power and kinect? Was it simply a reserve that wasn't being used? If that is the case then it needs to be communicated better because right now it sounds as though MS is saying your games are better without kinect. Then again maybe the article itself is giving me that impression.

You guys need to separate before things get out of hand. I don't feel like making bans and having folks not be able to post during E3. Cool off please.

Is E3 our Gamers's Christmas so you are cheerfull and benevolent =]

Extra 50p confirmed.

They are both 1080p so now that should make some people happy and others mad. This whole resolution nonsense will end soon.

its 1080p 30FPS, check artical on gamspot.

You guys, Destiny will now Run 4k 3060fps on the Xbox One.

I'm gonna have to side with snap NOT working while playing games that take away Kinects reserve resources. That has to be a large chunk of the reserve in the first place.
