Forums - Nintendo - So, Mario Kart 8 moved consoles despite Wii U design

What game should be next

Zelda HD 327 55.90%

Banjo Threeie 40 6.84%

Retro new action adventure IP 57 9.74%

Metroid Prime 4 103 17.61%

Others 56 9.57%

Total:583

I still think Wii U's initial weak momentum will contribute to Wii U's low LT sales at the end and I predict SSB4 will be the last traditional Nintendo franchise that will have over a million units sold for the first week.

In fact, I think any big HD games Nintendo was planning for Wii U is being on hold for the next Nintendo system excluding Smash Bros. and possibly Zelda.

Zelda U will move even more units, as would a Metroid Prime 4. Zelda U is confirmed, Medtroid Prime 4 isn't. C'mon Nintendo, get to it!

Zelda U isn't moving more units than Mario Kart.

Mario Kart > NSMB > Smash = 3D Mario > Zelda

When it comes to sales.

I guarantee that Zelda will move more units, especially when the userbase isn't fragmented like it was with Wii and the game isn't crap like Skyward Sword.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

The next Zelda game will easily sell 1 million, just look at WW HD its sold 950,000 so far. Also, Skyward Sword wasn't bad at all, just a bit lackluster at worst.

Good job Mario Kart. Getting people to buy a WiiU was not an easy task.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Agreed. It might undershoot Skyward Sword, but it will break a million no-sweat.

Speaking of Skyward Sword though, I disagree. Quite bad.

I'm not really sure what's "wrong" with the Wii U design in the first place. It just looks like a slightly bigger, more rounded Wii, and the GamePad controller, in spite of it's size, is excellent.

How is it that MK8 is not a Wii sequel with higher resolution? Was it the gliding from MK7 or the limited anti-gravity feature that marked the difference between generations?

Most definitely. Both gliding and limited anti-gravity would not have been possible on the Wii due to HW-constraints.

Next gen, we will get full anti-gravity, not limited one. Of course, the PS4 would already be able to do full anti-gravity, but then again the system is not designed to output high-quality cartooney visuals (different processor architecture, too advanced floating comma calculations and such), hence Mario Kart per se would not be possible.

lolwut?

people here forget that Smash will be on 3DS first. Unless a bundle like MK8 happen, Smash will do nothing for Wii U

How many of the competitive community who kept Melee and Brawl alive do you think will only pick up the 3DS version?

For that matter, most Smash fans consider the Wii U version the "real" game, and rightly so. Most people who want to pick up the 3DS, are either just too cheap/poor to buy a Wii U right now, or plan on getting both, and just like the idea of "Smash on the Go". No one seriously prefers the 3DS version, however.

My estimate of hardware Wii U with new games:

Bayonetta 2: 120,000.
X: 100,000.
The new Zelda: 170,000.
Super Smash Bros: 500,000 if coming on Chrismas, if coming on normal week, 140,000.

Ohhh... For a second I thought you meant those are the copies the game would sell lol
