Forums - Gaming - 79% Of Gamers Say They Won't Buy Cheaper $399 Xbox One

And oh, the hypocrisy. Sony was praised for giving up on Move while Microsoft is being shunned for giving up on Kinect?

When did that happen, ifrc Move is supported by the PS4 and encouraged for use with Morpheus.

Sony just wasn't idiotic enough to define there console as peripheral, let alone then make the peripheral optional.

"Xbox is Kinect"

what does that make Kinectless Xbox-One? Blu-ray player?

The damage is done already, at least MS changed it quickly rather than taking a year or 2 to change, completly validating my opinion that all of there pr claims where basically bullshit. The boost will be measurable, but only temporary I believe, a stop gap if you will. The Xbox One is too expensive to pull a Wii and it can't outvalue the PS4 at the same price.

Not to mention, MS gets away with a lot more shit then Sony does, {examples}, so if you want to claim hypocrisy you had better look at the entire picture

EDIT: Statistics should be a prerequisite to be a member of VGChartz.

Again three problem

1. The DRM hypocrisy and danger. Not only on the Kinect/DRM side but also Microsoft (first company to collaborate with NSA) side

2. The image: Xbox image still is lacking of Playstation coolness or Nintendo legacy.

3. At a higher price, it's not a even as powerful as PS4 and the console is bigger. Also there is no plan for backward compatibility but it's counter-balance with media capabilities which seems to be better on Xbox One.

At the end of the day, no matter how much people dislike this survey and question its legitimacy (in which I think it's partially legitimate), the problem isn't with this survey, but MS. They need to do a better job persuading people that the new SKU is a good deal and so far, they've been doing a poor job.

4. By making the Kinect optional, there is less differentiation between it and PS4. Thus at the same price, the only advantage it has is its media features, features with the exception of IR blaster and HDMI input, that can easily be added digitally.

Had a 400$ Kinect sku, it would have a much stronger position. A peripheral alone isn't going to make people not want to buy the console, as many Xbox fans have claimed, Price is a major factor, but I really doubt the Kinect 2 is really that expensive.

Pretty normal responses I reckon. It's still not a compelling price to buy an XB1 instead of a PS4, so I think until games like Halo & Gears are out it will remain like this.

There's a pretty negative spin on the numbers, but if 21% of gamers bought an XB1 this year that would be a hell of a lot.

So this survey includes all gamers including mobile gamers ?

then 21% is huge

Also, 59% of xbox owners not buying an X1 at 400 $ makes sense. To install a user base evenly across say 5 years you need 20% transferring from last gen to current gen. And the following price cuts should take care of that.

I'm not saying the X1 is looking to be dominant. Just saying the numbers are good.

when 59% of your previous/current customers are not interested in buying your new product after its price has been reduced by 20%, you have a real problem.

As I explained to Kowen, it's not that they aren't interested in the product. It's that they aren't interested at that price.

I want a 72" TV. But at $3500, I'm not likely to buy it. At $900, I'm likely to buy it. It wasn't a matter of if I would absolutely or absolutely not buy the TV. People are confusing the survey into thinking it says "will you ever buy an Xbone?", and that simply isn't true. It's just asking your interest in relation to the price. 59% said they don't care for it at that price. Doesn't mean only 41% of 360 owners will ever buy an XBone.
