On my phone so using google translate is difficult. Basically says that MK8 made the Wii U sell 10 times as much as it did last week in France (apparently about 20k). So the Wii U sold more in France then Japan?

Hmm, very interesting. Then again large boosts in Europe were expected after looking at the success in the UK. But still, France > UK? Who'd have thought that (if true)?

Japanese hardware sales in general are abysmal. Sony and Nintendo should both be looking very hard at what they can do to reinvigorate the Japanese hardware market, even the portable consoles are selling relatively poorly on a consistent basis.

Good start for Kart 8 software wise, a shame it's largely sold to the existing Wii U base in Japan. How does it compare for other opening weeks in the Kart franchise?

It's been noted a lot recently that France > UK when it comes to WiiU, possibly the most Nintendo friendly country in Europe for sure.

Hmm, interesting. If so then we have around 50k between three countries, with the rest of Europe (another 40k?) in, which would put the US over 100k for the week if we were to believe ioi.

Now that seems rather high to me.

That's a solid software sales number but a terrible hardware boost for the Wii U. Not even 20k?

France is Nintendo's biggest market in Europe, so it isn't a surprise. If you look at the French weekly you'll see alot more software than UK. UK is just a wasteland for Nintendo.

Fair enough, I didn't expect 'glorious' numbers from home consoles anyway (19k during Mario Kart 8 launch is still pretty weak), but just look at those 3ds and Vita numbers. 3ds Barely reached 20k, Vita 12k. My eyes are bleeding. Q_Q

It's interesting that it's the entire industry, I don't think you can call it a blip either as it just seems to be getting worse! (couple weeks ago it was as low as it was in 2004).

I dunno, perhaps there are other things in Japan catching peoples interest? I wouldn't know, I don't keep up with the trends there.

Now we can start speculating that the Wii U will get behind the Gamecube in total sales. Smash will sell more on the 3ds than on the Wii U, fact. Hyrule Warriors, let`s see. Bayonetta 2 and X, I doubt. PS4 also has terrible sales, the difference for the Wii u is the PS4 sell well in Western markets. The Wii U is a widespread and global failure.
