Exactly what it sounds like.

While playing Mario Kart 8 online with friends, we got into a discussion about how it's awesome, yet ridiculous for Mario Kart 8 to look so much better than all of Nintendo's other Wii U games so far. Specifically, we were talking about how amazing a 3D Mario game using the Mario Kart 8 engine would be. Personally, I also would take a Zelda game with this kind of attention to detail, bright colors, beautiful stylized textures, and stunning lighting.

So I was just wondering if anybody else had thought about this? Why does Mario Kart 8 look so much better than 3D World and even Smash Bros? What Nintendo franchise would you like to see done in a similar style, or at least similar sky-high level of graphics/art-style quality and attention to detail...possibly even using the MK8 engine or a modified version of it?

If I were Nintendo I would give the Mario Kart team a month of vacations and then make the continue working as usual in a new F ZERO.

Honestly, SM3DW looks just as good.

That's not Nintendo's style - they always build their games from the ground up.

I hope all Nintendo's future games build on the strengths of Mario Kart's deferred lighting/shading tech, which is the primary reason it looks so much better than any of their prior Wii U games. (3D World and co presumably used forward rendering, and hence fewer dynamic lights)

The engine is nintendo's best engine so far, but the zelda tech demo destroys it.

Imagine a Diddy Kong Racing game with a slightly modified/improved MK8 engine! 

if you are suggesting they rebuild an engine every time they make a new game then you are wrong. it would be stupid to do so. 

If other games looked just as good? Hm. I'm used to Nintendo's variety in art style, so no thanks.
