I'm thinking the basic set is on it's way to being discontinued in most regions.

We see sales like these now and then, and they usually move past very quickly. Update us if this doesn't sell out in the next week....

I think the basic console is out of production which would mean that the current discounted price is more of an inventory clearing move than an indicator that Nintendo is dumping hardware.

Nintendo is best continuing with the 32GB unit bundled with a desirable game most interested in Nintendo games would buy anyway.
