I can't wait to see new official GameCube controllers at GameStop now so I don't have to buy the crappy knock off ones made by GameStop

It's not about not being able to play the game without a Gamecube controller, it's about the Gamecube controller being the preferred controller for all Smash professionals.

 

OT: As someone who follows the competitive scene, this news makes me very happy. Can't wait to replace my 12 years old Gamecube controller if that Smash Bros. version becomes available.

Yes, I saw that. But that could perfectly fine be a special edition thingy for the attending players. If they are going to sell them, why didn't they say so?

yeah long live the best traditional controller ever made! i hope they bring back the wavebird and if this means gc virtual console and support for wii games i'm definitely getting that adapter
