Not necessarily. Only takes a couple upsets and all of them could be out before the quarters. Well, some of them could still go out in the group stage...

I know. There could be big surprises like Wales or Switzerland making it to the final (we had similar big surprises in 1992 and 2004), but one out of CRO/POL/BEL/POR is the more likely scenario. Provided Portugal realized today that place 1 in their group is the WAY better option now than place 2.

Poland and Croatia were the big winners today as they made it to the upper bracket. Germany and Spain will have to take the hard route.

No, they won their group, which means - provided they win their "last 16" match - Germany will have to play against Italy or Spain in quarter finals and (most likely) France in semi final. That's the hard route I was talking about.
