No Man's Sky +

I'd like to do a game where the people are chosen and they base their choices objectively rather than petty wars.

Should probably have made people list their games in order of best to worst (in terms of interest, quality, likely to buy ect) and then could perhaps see when they were ruining the game a bit better and call them out. But policing these threads never goes down well.

If you do it again in the future you should try doing one at the end of the year. You could pick games that were Top 20-30 Metacritic released in 2014. Make it like a year end game. Also the point scheme favors the negative too much. A +2/-3 probably would have been better, but this was a first time and the idea was nice. The mini wars just kind of ruined the purpose I think.

Whelp, at least my favourites Dragon Age and Witcher held out quite long (not FF though). It would have been interesting to see how it would have turned if there were no petty wars. At least i can say that i didn't downvote any game that i'm actually intrested in or have a chance of buying.

Why not instead, have people put the order the games interest them. Everyone takes the list of games, orders them however they prefer them, and each rank gets a score added to it.

The whole hurt/heal thing, people are going to hurt games that they think are a threat, even if they're semi high up on their list, then when people eventually kill off the ones higher on their list, they have to go to the next highest which is lower than what they've already helped kill off. Then at the end we end up with several choices that next to no one cares about.

what if we reversed things?  all games start at zero points.  players get a + 2 and -1 vote.  it is a race to see what can break 100 points first.  vote in the top 5 most anticipated titles as the winners.

Lots of good ideas, this is certainly a different way of doing things.
