*EDIT* Not talking about flaming, just respectful discussion from a vocal member. Flaming is unacceptable.
It seems that criticizing certain companies and practices is becoming less and less acceptable.
For example, some people get really defensive when the topic of DLC comes up. If someone speaks out on Day 1 DLC or season passes on a game that they like, other get super defensive and instead of calmy debating, they just flat out slam the train of thought and tell them to "deal with it".
In other cases, people get worked up because people don't quite agree with their opinions. Just recently my ideas on a game were called "retarded", and with little justification, because I didn't agree with a person. Is openly expressing your opinion and disagreeing with a company really that bad? I understand if someone disagrees and wants to debate it, but it seems that some people just can't debate respectfully. A lot of this happens on opinion threads, too. Why slam others' opinions?
If I'm vocal on a game, and call out some flaws, I'm called a non-fan or a hater. It seems that some people need to relax and stop taking criticism for a company like a personal insult. And I mean this in every case. It's hard to speak out with criticism without being attacked for it.
Most members of the community are awesome, but there are some that see themselves as better than everyone else. It happens in every community, and I know there's no way to avoid it, but it's still a little saddening.
