sigh... i cant say unfortunately. i actually have a hard time seeing it be better, but i guess i see that i like this game a bit more than most people. kirby is a great game, and there never has been a bad kirby game, but i think that this game is more likely to be a better purchase. i like games that are challenging, and i am sure that is something that yoshis new island definitely has over triple deluxe.

but i would like to hear from somebody who has played both extensively.

Will get it when it goes on sale ;)

how would it ever go on sale? you know how stubborn nintendo is with the prices of their games. i usually buy nintendo games the week they release and i have never seen a sale on them before. is a sale for yoshis new island feasible at all?

Yes, exactly. So if I want it when it goes on sale I'll never have to buy it. This game looks too dissapointing to me to even try.

i just have always bought nintendo games at full price and never checked to see what the prices went to later. i also work at a used video game store, so we never see new games. all our nintendo-made 3ds games are at least 30 dollars all the time and whenever i go to gamestop and check the nintendo section, the majority of all nintendo made games keep their price and i have never witnessed one of these 'sales'  before.

i am a die hard yoshi's island fan, and have been since it released (i was six years old). its been one of my favorite games of all time since. when yoshi's story for 64 came out, i made my mom go out and buy that shit immediately, and THAT game disappointed me. I was also in disbelief that nintendo made a game, with yoshi no less, that sucked as much as it did. it was actually then when i realized that nintendo is fallible and was actually able to make mistakes.

and even with all of that, i played this game expecting a very 'meh' experience, and ended up finding so much more than that. so if you had a similar experience like i had with yoshi's story and thats why you feel like its too disappointing to even try and you want to save yourself from something like that ever happening again, im telling you that its ok and youre not going to have to endure that same pain again. this game certainly is not disappointing and redeems the series in my eyes.

That's not the problem for me. I've played the old Yoshi's Island but it really didn't feel so good to me. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a bad game, it just doesn't suit me. I really dislike the music from Yoshi's New Island as well as the art style. It's just personal preference though, I guess. Also, I keep spelling disappointing wrong. Urgh -.-

ok so we come from different backgrounds with yoshis island. but yeah, if you didnt particularly like the first one, then there really isnt much hope of liking this one either. theyre very much the same thing. i do think, however, if you play all the way through world six, you might find yourself really enjoying the game though. i had the same feeling about the music and art style too, and all of that pretty much vanished for me and i grew to like it.

Yeah, I will buy it eventually when I have some spare cash. This along with a host of other games.

I also refuse to believe this is a bad game, the original SNES game is one of the greatest games ever made, my favorite 2D platformer of all-time and if this game has just a hint of the original within itself, it should be at least decent.

I'm a huge fan of the original Yoshi's Island and bought this day one. Probably my worst day one purchase ever, metacritic score is totally deserved. It's just painfully mediocre, lacking of any own ideas, feels just like a chinese copy of the original...Which gives it a little of it's flavor, but without the magic.
